It's such a horrible job that you'd have to be bonkers to get anything but OEM parts.

True.

I am preparing myself (financially) for the engine-out, but I won’t do it myself (don’t have the tools, don’t trust my hands), and for sure I’ll go with the original sensor. But it was interesting to notice this.

They are different brands though.

What gearbox does the Passat have?
That's close to the price of cheap Chinese clones.

And the first switch is the older 8-pin type which is more expensive anyway, though maybe only 20% over the 10-pin.
