MOT and it passed...

Post by R5XVB » Sun Nov 20, 2016 11:46 am

Having fitted a Milltek 'cat back' and new s/s downpipes with 200cpi cats, the ones off eBay, to be honest I was expecting to fail the MOT test this year on emissions. It passed... :biggrin2:

Just an advisory on NSF tyre uneven wear no doubt related to the 'klunk' on full lock - that's getting sorted today - just turned past 111111 miles and running sweet. After two years of ownership, the sale of one kidney to pay for a new engine (I needed my liver for personal reasons) the creation of an RS6 crankshaft table lamp and perfecting my poker face when the parts dealer tells me the price for a feckin' two foot long piece of pipe.

Happy days!

How easy were the sport cats to get on? Do they have no pre cats too? What's the noise like from the exhaust? I'm looking for something with more pops and bangs tbh.

I'm sure I have a blow on my downpipe, so perfect time!

It was done whilst the engine was out and I am reliably informed it would a 'bitch' of a job otherwise. A little bit of grinding was necessary around the gearbox but other than that they fitted well. Here's the link to the product.

With the resonated Milltek system and these downpipes the noise is perfect for me, not too 'shouty' with a deep growl at low revs and if you floor it the roar is very audible. Had a few comments about the 'nice' sound from other car enthusiasts so... There's a terrier dog in our street barks at me now every time I drive by, I think he reckons I'm a big dog growling at him... LOL

Is your milltek system a res or non-res?
I thought about these, but worried with a non-res it might just be a bit too shouty.

I'm not too bothered about shouty, it's the weekend wagon so it can be shouty! I just want some more crackles and pops!

It's resonated, glad I went that way... :rocker:

Not only an MOT fail but also a life fail. :)

I have a non res and it's absolutely fine - it's not screaming and it's got a nice low burble and it's not really that loud inside either. I do have a "double glazing" though and not sure if this is a standard on all RS6.

BTW - Mine passed MOT this Sat with flying colours - not even advisories :biggrin3: :nogarors4:

Yeh, I have non-resonated too (but with both cats in place). I like it - a good balance in noise - but I am a massive V8 fan (one of 4 V8's I own).
