I'm guessing someone on here will know.

Post by Facte » Thu Jun 16, 2016 12:31 am

I've just picked up a C5 RS6 Avant and I've noticed a couple of quirks. I used to have a 2.8 Quattro so have some experience as such.

1st one is the window switches either make the windows go full down or full up. My old car, a half press would allow you to drop the window a bit and a full press would fully open or close. Is that normal on the RS?

2nd one. The rear interior lights. They'll come on when I flick the switch in the front, but not when the doors open either in the front or in the back.

Any help would be appreciated.

I've experienced the opposite in my allroad - the auto down or up stops working. The fix is to hold the switch for a few seconds, and then the function returns. Maybe try that. Not familiar with the lighting issue.

FON, The rear light issue is likely to be the light cluster it's self . I had the same thing, I took it out and dismantled the switch. Clean the connections with a little fine Sand paper quick squirt of electrical cleaner, Jobs a good un. As for the windows, worth trying as stated with resetting the end points by holding the windows in the up and down position
See if it helps .
Cheers Al

I had the same issue with rear light cluster. If you have look about you will find a guide to fix a dry solder joint. Re-solder the joint and all will be good again. 10min job and very easy to sort out.

You were right about the soldering. One dry joint on the circuit, quick blob of solder and it's working again. Can't work out these windows though. Tried the full down full up thing and googling.

Ignition on, hold switch down and allow window to fully open, as soon as its reaches bottom , hold switch fully up until window has closed completely, straight afterwards do the same again for another open then shut operation.

Then operate switch by gently touching ( mine are sensitive) and drop window to the position you want, it should work now.

what happens with the pass door switch ?, does that allow you to only partially open the window, or goes all the way down ?

All of the switches, no matter how gentle you are put the windows full down or full up.
