This happened to me aswell.it turned out to be that the air con drain was blocked'sometimes the end melts together especially if you have a milltek as it exits above the exhaust .water then backs up an enters the cabin in the front footwell.there is a how to on here somewhere but i cant find it.

THIS.
Rstoney wrote:...just don't use a heat gun on full whack!
I used loads of towels and a heat gun, then I put it all back together and rolled 1Kg of cat litter into a dry towel to leave in the footwell. I replaced the towel and cat litter every 3 days for 2 weeks until the cat litter was clearly dry and the windows stopped steaming up.
No matter where you go, there you are.

So, i pulled the plstic over what I thought was the tray, but there really isn't a "tray" as such on these cars, right? I don't seen anywhere water can really assemble, except on the left hand side, just where the hood release wire comes through the bulkhead. There was a small amount of water pooling there, up to the wire gasket. There is what I assume is a fuse box right there, is there a drain under that?

Are you on about the plastic cover that goes over the header tank bottle ? Its the full width of the engine bay and the back edge is against the plastic surround at the bottom of the windscreen ?

If so , there's a drain under the pollen filter housing on the right side ( as you look from the front of the car) and one under the header tank bottle as well ( from what I've read somewhere on here ).

One under the coolant reservoir for sure, and the other is hidden under the brake servo from what I understand. But there is one under the coolant 100%.

Definitely a rubber bung under the coolant bottle. I knocked it out yesterday.

3x 8mm bolts to remove it and it can be a bit stiff.

I would also suggest checking water getting into the pollen filter housing, on my car it looks like the trim panel right at the base of the windscreen is dripping in water to the pollen filter which in turn is soaking the footwell indirectly.

I managed to wiggle my girly hand underneath the coolant bottle to give the drain hole a poke with a finger without needing to remove anything.

I checked my drainage holes whenever I washed the car, which was pretty regularly.

Thanks, guys, I'll give it another look if this damn weather would let up for a few minutes. Pollen filter was bone dry so I doupt it's coming in that way. I'll check the A/C drain as well, if I can find any info on where to look.

The actual pollen filter itself will probably stay dry .
the problem is the foam gasket between the pollen filter housing and main bodywork of the car.

As its made of foam, if there's a build up of leaves and debris around the drain hole, it allows the water level to rise as high as the foam, then it just soaks straight through the foam

Ah! I'll remove the entire housing then? I tried getting my hand under the coolant reservoir, but there's no chance. Can i just loosen the reservoir a little to wiggle my hand undernerath?
