Re: Multi function steering wheel swap
Oooh. Good opportunity to upgrade from poverty spec steering wheel people! If I didn't already have the MFSW I would do this swap in a second!

Re: Multi function steering wheel swap
Never quite sure about the MFSW on the RS6. I only bought my car about 3 months ago but didnt even know they existed before i saw one on autotrader after months of looking. I thought it looked too big and a bit out of place on the RS6. Must say its a bit of a pain not having radio controls on the wheel after having them in the last few cars, but I think the 3 spoke wheel suits the RS6. I also prefer the actual paddles rather than the buttons for gear change, but just a personal preference.
Re: Multi function steering wheel swap
Shoppinit is the only person to like the MFSW on the C5 RS - he's wrong, of course, but we'll allow him that concession as he makes up for it in a multitude of other ways.
No matter where you go, there you are.
Re: Multi function steering wheel swap
I know I'm getting older here..and it's been a while,
But is that right that the mfsw has the Allroad buttons for changing gear and no flappy paddles?
I'd rather loose the stereo controls, and keep the paddles.
Plus the three spoke does look better!

I used to own a 6, now I'm just a lurker!
Re: Multi function steering wheel swap
Neither wheel is going to win any prizes for attractiveness. The paddles irritate me on the 3 spoke Also, no heating in the base model wheel.
The tiptro buttons are hugely practical. Thumb-tip gear changes are where it's at. Paddles are, IMO, unnecessarily clunky and I don't need them to feel like Loeb.
As for reaching for buttons on the head unit? Hello? Welcome to the 1990's!
So in conclusion I have now proved beyond any reasonable doubt that the MFSW is the best driver input device for the RS6. QED.

Re: Multi function steering wheel swap
My ho operates the stereo. How am I suppose to feel like Loeb without pulling paddles? It's gotta be a flappy paddle for the win.
I assume if you had a GT3 it'd have thumb rocker buttons at 3 & 9 o'clock?
For the record, I'd have a manual GT2 - thanks.

Re: Multi function steering wheel swap
Shop,
Are you at an age now where you need big buttons In front of you now like the clunky big TV remotes..
Paddles look cool, give street cred, and look the part. ( well, I used to like using them on mine In front of the kids, they thought it was great that I had Ferrari paddles in the Audi! )
Although heated, I quite like the idea of that.. I'm still a 3 spoke lover, and think that 4 spoke suits the elder generation that like the functionality over looks.
There, I believe I've just proved that 3 spoke is better than 4!

No RS6, no valid opinion.

Re: Multi function steering wheel swap
So does the MFSW just work on a car not originally spec'd with one or does it mean altering sh1t like wiring, rings airbag stuff etc etc?
Re: Multi function steering wheel swap
Radio buttons would be good, I do miss them a bit. But I must say ive never got into a half decent car and thought the wheel was too cold to touch. I did have a Renault 5 GT Turbo years ago with a leather wheel that was freezing in the morning in the winter, but likely because the car was constructed out of paper. Porsche seemed to continue with rocker switches for years on their tiptronic cars, eventually replacing them with paddles. I'd quite like to try an RS6 with the MFSW just out of interest. It looks bigger than the 3 spoke, is that an illusion?
Re: Multi function steering wheel swap
I can't argue with you there Shop!
You're spot on jonno, it is bigger, I believe they took it straight out of londons double decker buses!

I'd rather put my length in a vice and shut close it using my sledgehammer!Gazzab17 wrote:Any one interested in my multifunction steering wheel for their 3 spoke wheel ?
