Trans Fluid - how much?

Post by shadyraven » Fri Jun 19, 2015 6:40 am

Hello all, planning a transmission fluid change for my RS6 i.e.) dropping the pan once and changing the filter. Question - how many liters of new fluid do I need to buy?

Capacity is about 10 litres, but you'll only get max 8 litres out. Probably a bit less than that.

^ What Shopp said

Its also worth noting how much came out and how much went back in. Mine was very similar, even after accounting for the mandatory spillages.

I'd order some sump bolts if I were you. Loads of mine round very easily. They aren't tight though.

No matter where you go, there you are.

A small sacrifice to the Audi God is customary.

I think we got in about 12-13 liters including the cooler and lines last time we did a complete flush....you do have the manual and VCDS correct? Here's the link to it if you need.

I always like to go back a week later and double check to make sure it's topped off, easy enough.

And if anyone's interested, this is one way to fill up the trans if you shorten the curved end to hook into the 'box, but it's a right ballache pumping away at it:

But then it you mash it up with one of these:
http://www.halfords.com/motoring-travel ... -eezibleed

you can use the bottle and outlet from the minipump, with the cap & inlet from the eezibleed and you have the perfect, pressurised refill system. I recommend not going over 30psi or so though.

This is the real deal but a bit pricey. Used it for my rs6, current s6, and gearbox, diffs and haldex on my superb combi, wife' dsg touran and a ton of others. The selection of ends is terribly useful.

I believe that I got a few extra vag adaptors in my kit so it may not be this exact one.
