Pathetic horn

Post by MarkPRS6 » Thu May 28, 2015 8:17 pm

Hi

Can someone tell me where the horns are located on the RS6? I assume that being an Audi, I'll need to take the front bumper off to change them.

They have to be the most pathetic horns I've ever heard on a car, so job for tomorrow is to change them for something a little...louder!!!

Yup, in the bumper.

Nothing wrong with the horns in mine. Maybe one of yours has expired.

I'm seriously considering train horns with a compressor. :jump:

I must have had half a dozen. There are two and the "low tone" one seems to pop annually for me.

I got some from halfords for my 911. About £30 for two and they were really good. Nice and loud so I'll get some of those again and try them.

When I get round to it I'll stick some pictures up. Not looking forward to taking bumper off though.

Are there any instructions online anywhere on how to get the bumper off?

PIAA Dual Horn Dual Tone 400hz/500hz Twin Pack Weather Resistance Cover

From demon tweaks. I couldn't drive my s4 with the remnants of one of the orig horns, so I got the above and people can certainly hear me now :)

Well finally got the horns changed. It no longer sounds like a pathetic yawn when you press the horn button. Its got something a little more imposing befitting the style of car. Bumper wasn't too bad to get off in the end.

Next job on the list is a service and change the front top mounts. I've checked out how to do them on an A6 so I assume that the RS6 is pretty much the same. Remove the suspension leg from the car and then use spring compressors to enable removal of the top mounts. As my car has Bilsteins, is there any reason to suspect that the top mounts will be anything other than standard?

Cheers guys.
