Vacuum/intake system leak test

Post by TomRS6TT » Sat Mar 14, 2015 12:07 am

I'm looking how to perform this test, has anyone done himself vacuum/intake system leak test to RS6. I have done lot's of searching about this, but there is nothing for RS6. I have the bungs for intake, from intake I would like to pressurize the system also. Should I disconnect valve cover breather hoses and put cap on them? Can I pressurize system like this and find possible air leaks?

I don't know of one - although spent some time thinking about how to make one a while back. In the end, I didn't bother, just deciding it would only tell me what I already know - the intercoolers leaked. Anyway, (and IMVHO as I have not done this), I think you'd need a 4x the stoppers I noted in this thread and plug both the turbo inlets and the intercooler outlets. These stoppers have an air feed connection on them for you to pressurise the system.

I didn't work out an acceptable way to test the intake manifold & fittings - because there's gonna be some overlap on the cams and any air you put into the manifold will go straight out the exhaust - unless you want to block the exhaust too.....
