problem at 250km\h

Post by rs6_520hk » Fri Aug 22, 2014 10:13 am

Hi all Audi enthusiasts !! it is so that I have an Audi RS6 2004 model year, I have changed turbo, gearbox, plus chain in the engine and tensioner plus maf sensor plus oxien sensor in the exhaust pipe, the problem is that the car can't run over 250km \ h does anyone know what it might be wrong, i don't get any fault codes in Vag Com

PS the car work find untill it reach 250km\h then it is like the car have loss power, the computerbox is remap by ABT.

I'd say the ABT map still has Audi's 250kph limit.

With my ecu (computerbox) remapped only by the previous owner it wouldn't go over 155mph (250kph) because the speed limit was still there. At full throttle when the gearbox tried to change from 4th to 5th would either not stay in 5th and drop to 4th or it lost power.

After a visit to MRC for a new ecu and gearbox remap the problem has definitely gone away

Did ABT remove the speed limiter?

Yes ABT have remove thé speed limiter, but we have open thé computerbox and it was an emulator card in the box. Yesterday was at the Shop where the fixed the gearbox, and he said you have a truble with the box. I have one box extra I will program today and the speed limiter is removed. Because the limiter is in the écu.

ABT with a piggy-back box? Doesn't sound like their style at all...

Get a proper ECU in there and a decent map. Add on boxes are the devil's work.

Hi,

There are 3 speed limiters in the RS6 ECU.

1 = Max speed in normal operation
2 = Max speed due to engine temp
3 = Max speed to to oil temp

Do you have a photo of the ECU with the cover off? Is there any possibility of removing the flash memory chip easily, or is it soldered in?

Yeah, that looks like it could be a problem to work with. Did you try getting the ABT map off the ecu?

Are you modifying a fresh ECU yourself? If you need anything for the new ecu or flash program, just let me know. I have addresses the speed limiters and a lot else if you need.

my previous RS6 was ABT tuned , stage 1, and the limiter would kick in at 280kmh actually 290kmh on the cluster but given the speedo error would be 280kmh. Stage 1 from ABT doesn't do anything to the gearbox map, is the stock factory one.
