Okay what do I try next?

Post by Coxall8395 » Sun Oct 10, 2010 2:45 pm

I thought i had fixed the rear wash squirt, in that i found two breaks in the pipe, one at the front NS footwell and the other around the CD multibox. connected them and it worked fine.

Anyway its now stopped again and I have checked the pipe. The water is definately reaching the "L" shaped join around the CD player but not coming out of the nozzle. Tried cleaning the same with a pin, no change.

Is there another join between the L join and the nozzle or is likely to be a blockage in the nozzle. If so how hard is it to change the nozzle?

Any tips welcome!

Matt

Is the nozzle rotating with the wiper, or is it staying still?

It's staying still.

Could be a clogged nozzle? Have you tried poking some wire in there?

The washer can break and rotate with the wiper arm, rather than stay in position. Unless you know it's not supposed to, then it can seem normal.

Gave the nozzle a good poke with a pin but still nothing. Is there another join between the CD player and the nozzle? How do I get the tail gate trim off to get a better look?

It was a long time ago on my friends A4 avant, same problem. Crap and slime from the tank reservoir gets drawn through motor, through pipework and ends up at the nozzle jet and blocks it. It was getting bloked from the inside so to speak rarter than from external dirt.
You can strip the nozzle downs itself and clean, a bit fiddly but can be done.

I think the whole of the end of the nozzle under the black plastic cover pulls out.

If You need to take the tailgate trim off I wrote a how to and posted it on here I think.......

I really is just a matter of brute force I'm afraid, or try and get a long bar in there adjacent to the clips and pry it apart.

Pull downwards, it'll make a bang that will sound like you just fu(ked it up big time when it comes off.

I broke one of the clips but just glued it back in.

Oh right I see [GRINNING FACE WITH SMILING EYES] ... Thanks for that. I'll have another look tomorrow as I need to head off to work soon.

So the trim is in 3 parts is that right??.. You have the bit that's carpeted which houses the warning triangle and then it's separate to the two plastic parts that surround the rear window? Or is the carpeted and lower rear window part stuck together? .. Just before I go barging in [SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]
