Finally the Falkens had to go - folks (especially RS6 newbies), please don't ever buy those tyres if you get offered. Yes they were hard wearing, but the ride is like concrete and they wail like nothing else (you'd think the drive train was failing). And with no rim protectors, the first thing to touch kerbs were the poor old alloys.
Got brand spanking new Goodyear Eagle F1 Asym 2s this morning. Won't share the Sticker price in Oz, but importing from the US etc, I guess I just got too lazy. Next time.
So yes, 255/35 R19s. But wow they are a tight fit. Gap of two credit cards between tyre and the control arm, and gap of three credit cards between the tyre wall and where ol' knobbly used to be. With the Falkens, I could easily fit my thumb in those spaces. Just as well I wasn't tempted by the 275/30R19s, I can't see how those would have gone on without a spacer.
They look great, the ride is utterly different, and they are much quieter too. So far, v happy.
