CCTV Reccommendation
Can anyone recommend me a half decent but cheap CTV system, 2 cams + DVR, ideally IP cams to view online, with decent night and day visions?
Thanks

I know a guy in Coventry who specialises in this. He's shown me his A8 parked outside his drive/inside his house live on his IPhone. Can put you in touch if you like.

Cheers, yeah do that. Although I don't want to pay pro set up prices, I can install myself, so want a cheap ish kit.

Re: CCTV Reccommendation
Look up foscam cameras. Connect to your wifi and you can pull up feeds on your iPhone anywhere you are and they're cheap. Night vision is great too. Get it working with ispy software and you're all set.
Re: CCTV Reccommendation
Cheers for that. So I install a foscam camera, link it to my router, install ispy to monitor it. How do I record? Do I need a DVR or can it be done on the cloud or elsewhere?
Thanks

Re: CCTV Reccommendation
I recently bought a IP CCTV system after some scumbags tried the doors on all the cars and broke in to housemate's car to nick his satnav he forgot to remove for once. The 6 never gets any attention from the scrotes around here as I think they have no idea what it is.
Since getting the scoobs back the driveway is a total chav magnet again
. Keep meaning to put the CCTV up but I should be out of this house in the next three months. The system is one of those KGuard Maplin jobbies and has iSheep app capabilities, possibly Android too, can't remember. Housemate has one with a ton of cameras monitoring his parents rather large farmhouse.

Re: CCTV Reccommendation
I have used the swann CCTV systems from maplin with no problem. Despite being maplin they are good quality and reasonable prise wise.
Re: CCTV Reccommendation
Funnily enough I have just bought one. Installed it yesterday and I am extremely pleased for the price.

160 gig. Enough to record from all 4 cameras at the highest quality rate for 36 hours continuously.
I have set mine up to do motion sensing, though, so it only records when there's an "event". I also set it to beep at me if it gets triggered so I can just look up to see what's going on when I'm in my office.

Re: CCTV Reccommendation
i got 2 cams outside, but its really annoying when youre on holiday and a spider is spinning a web in front of the lens, so it will record hours of spinning....
...and if i would buy one again it wouldnt be wireless, very annoying at only 5 fps...

Re: CCTV Reccommendation
Do these cameras have actual motion snesing rather than PIR detectors like the external floodlights?
I find those PIRs to be a bit hit and miss and depedant on certain temperautres to work well. I could just imagine someone running past the camera and it not triggering on a cold night. But if the actual camera was always on and used software to detect motion and then start recording it would be much more useful (and hopefully more reliable).

Re: CCTV Reccommendation
Yes, they are motion sensing in the true sense. You can (well, with mine, at least) define a zone in the camera's view in which if anything moves it starts the recording. This way you can exclude waving branches or the road or something that you wouldn't want to trigger the camera.

Re: CCTV Reccommendation
While I am thinking about it, the exterior cameras that came with the kit are proper heavy duty weatherproof things. I was surprised how substantial they were when I opened the box.
Right now all I am trying to do is catch my neighbour's dog shitting in our drive which is starting to seriously get on my tits.
