Re: took a 0-100mph video
Get a 5 or 10 Hz bluetooth GPS unit and use something like racechrono software for timing which is free. Just as accurate as vbox just not as pretty. The GPS units from Qstarz are the best and not too expensive.
What kind of power is the car supposed to have? Looking at the vid I would guesstimate the only thing that makes it faster than my and some other cars on here is the manual gearbox, it doesn't appear to have considerably more power.

Re: took a 0-100mph video
Why not just put a stop watch or similar on the dash - that will at least give a correlation to the video timer - then all we are talking about is any error in the speedo reading.

Do you have any documentation to back that statement up?JCviggen wrote:Get a 5 or 10 Hz bluetooth GPS unit and use something like racechrono software for timing which is free. Just as accurate as vbox just not as pretty.

I don't know the bhp :-/ , your right in the fact it probably doesn't have anymore power than some on here , trying to arrange a rolling road for something to do..
It started as a 568hp mtm stage 4 , the turbos were changed to hybrid jobs & fuel pumps / regs uprated and it hasn't been tested for bhp since that I know of... so your guess is as good as mine

2003 MTM RS6 - Bilsteisin PSS9 - Movit 396mm 6 pots front - Movit 342mm rear - MTM stage 4 + kit - modified hybrid turbos - full milltek - 100 cell cats - 5 bar pressure regs - uprated fuel pump - powerflex bushes - uprated intercooler hoses - Twin plate AP race clutch - one off flywheel - New from Audi RS4 B7 6sp getrag manual gearbox & RS4 B7 modified prop/driveshafts - 20" ABT alloys - vented bonnet - wagner grills - tinted windows - black optics - terrific wood inserts :-p
Re: took a 0-100mph video
Would be really interesting to see what the power curve looks like since a decat RS6 with a map can get that kind of power and I bet it's pushing more with the hybrid turbos. Are there any trusted rolling roads near you?

Book it in now. We can be patient.

Which part? That it's just as accurate or that it costs barely anything?Parptoot wrote:Do you have any documentation to back that statement up?JCviggen wrote:Get a 5 or 10 Hz bluetooth GPS unit and use something like racechrono software for timing which is free. The last part you can see for yourself on ebay.
It is as accurate as Vbox because, well, they both use GPS. The only important thing to have is a GPS unit with a rapid update rate (not what you have embedded in your smartphone)
You can even save and export the raw speed/position data and calculate it by hand afterwards if you don't believe what the app is telling you.
www.racechrono.com
Racechrono2avi lets you create overlays to be used in video streams. If you get an OBDII dongle you can add things like throttle/brake position etc. Example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOBK6l9YI1E
I used racechrono a few years ago for acceleration timing and nurburgring laps as well. It's as accurate as you need it to be for this kind of fooling around (it's a pretty easy algorithm to interpolate between the 1/10th or 1/5th of a second data points)

Re: took a 0-100mph video
30-130 would be interesting some of the evo boys are running sub 9 seconds but they are seriously modified cars with 800hp+ and sequential dog boxes.
A stock rs6 has gotta be around 11-12 seconds which would give most of the evos a run for their money and your manual modded one with clean shifts has to be around 10 seconds. Ive not been on this forum long but dont we ever do things like club meets/track days the MLR lot do them all the time or is that simply because there's way more evos out there?

There is obviously a huge cost difference and there's a good reason for that.JCviggen wrote:

The fact that it uses GPS is about the only similarity and just because it matches the 5 or 10Hz rating is not necessarily a device on an equal footing in accuracy terms.
There is more to it than a xxHz GPS engine.
I could waffle on for hours but suffice to say that I work for the worlds largest and most widely used GPS based data logging device manufacturer.
