If definitely a faff to get the seats out, but it might just be the button. If it's the motor then you're going to have to take the seat apart and you'd better book a Zen retreat for when you give up.

You'd better give your bank manager a heads up before he gives you a fist up.

Interestingly the same fuse does the back and forward, height and rake adjustment, so the only thing I can think of to explain the seat would be a knackered motor or switch.
I've got this problem with the driver's seat on mine - but only occasionally.

It appears to be the switch for the fore / aft has a dirty or poor contact, and this has not, as you mention, got anything to do with the hazard switch unit...

The seats switch only comes as part of the whole side trim (in the trim colour of your car) and is circa £150 + vat at cost (only from memory - not exact).

Sooo. I've been getting in about mine with electrical switch cleaner and hoping to rinse it clean of crud.

BTW the OP says the "lights" lit up on test drive... Might need clarification as to whether he actually means the indicators or the headlights?

Lala - your input? Lights or indicators?

The indicators lit up and worked properly initially, then they stopped working. As for the seat, I kind of think it is either a dodgy switch or the motor but will be unwilling to do a deal unless both of these issues are sorted.
Will give them a call tomorrow afternoon to see the state of play.....

Haven't ever taken it to Spain, the missus couldn't sit it in that long and no way can the pooch be allowed near alcantara!!! We use her Range Rover which does the 2700 miles(isn) in about £500 with another £200 on tolls, a potential RS6 might be a bit more expensive but not much....I think. The RR is a Td6 so at the low end of the economy scale but for such a large barge 26mpg ain't too bad.

I did £900 just on fuel, I did hammer it through France though, cruise control at 130-140mph for very long stretches.
Drove down to San Seb, Mundaka and La Rioja. I think tolls were about 130€ to Chunnel and back but I wasn't really keeping track.

Just a quick question regarding mileage, obviously I'd prefer to buy with as low as possible but I have seen another possibility but the mileage is 93k with what seems to be a fairly comprehensive history including a gearbox rebuild in 09/2012 with a years warranty on it. Is high mileage a killer on these engines or should they go on for ever if looked after properly?

That's nothing for these engines. Wouldn't worry me in the slightest.
