Sale of goods act, dude. The 12 month period means nothing. Law states the product must last a "reasonable amount of time". I know people who have used this for stuff 5 years old.

Who are the jokers you bought it from?

Footers - you haven't plugged it into any dodgy cars lately have you?

I plugged my cheapo ebay one into a chaps Skoda at work and it shorted it out (aftermarket radio problem - quite common apparently).

Knobbers, no I haven't, the last cars were Ctsui's RS6 and our S3. I have been fighting nicely with the supplier of the cable and they have put me on to Ross-Tech but god knows tbh. I have got my years old Gendan KKL mk1 adaptor working with VCDS-Lite shareware edition but that is pretty flaming useless in comparison to full VCDS. I will plug it in to the S3 tonight and see what I can get out of it before it whinges about needing the full license.......

Sweegie was PMing me on the forums regarding the VCDS lite stuff without even knowing that I had a compatible adaptor and was pointing me to 64-bit drivers almost as quick as Gendan was. Starting to think of him as a Shoppinit mk.2 around here ;)

Swanny, thanks for the offer. Let me see how I get on with the KKL adaptor on the S3 and I will let you know :).

Chunk, forgot to say thanks, I know all about their taste for coil packs after I blew one on the Cupra on the first test drive after being remapped by MRC. Madam drove it all the way back problem-free, I blew the pack in under 3 miles of me-style driving :D. The MAF is a tight squeeze cable-wise due to the Intake heatshield and I have been meaning to improve the Badger5 design a bit to free up the cable as it is tight and in a bad position, despite my best efforts to improve on the original fitters positioning...

Unfortunately not Bam, my life would be much better with some ARB and PSS in it right now. My DRC is officially minced (even the wife agrees).

That bar is a bar of pressure, after a little map tweak i did a few weeks ago. Although I could use a beer, right enough.

The 2010 RNSE units will not code to A6 unless the software is 0150 or below and when you do code them to A6, they do not read the speed pulse wire so do not work in an A6. It's nothing to do with wiring.

Hi,
Go for 193 B version insted of 193 G. They are easy to identifie if they are right to your 4B. Connector B3 should be V-Signal. This is very important as without speed signal the navigation will not work. On a newer rns e with led lcd this pin is empty. One more advantage is on this older led lcd unit is there is C2 pin for reverse wire whitch allowes you connect a rear view camera. On a newr units this pin is empty. In general B and G units have same lcd resolution and same procesor speed ect.

From what I figured out the problem is that A2 and A6 do not send this info on entertainment-CAN - with old RNS-e this info was received from the speed pulse wire on A2 and A6 - but the new RNS-e is not capable of reading speed pulse signal as there is no need - all cars that it can be coded for send this info over entertainment-CAN...

Use a cangate, it converts speed pulse from the cluster in an A2 to GALA which the RNS-E can use. I have a 2010 RNS-E working in my A2.

Good news the PU unit will work with the speed signal and coded to A6 as long as it is HW02 or REV B

What the problem? I know a few people now who have put the later one in with no issues.

People seem to think the sat nav lags due to no speed signal but footers doesn't have a problem. I must admit when I first put the RNS-E in mine I didn't have the gala wire connected and it worked fine just using the puck. Maybe a good puck is the answer.

just put a 2010 LED unit from an A3 in mine with no issues. obviously face plate has been changed.

software version is 150, not sure whether its a 193B or 193G unit. gala wire not connected but connected up the can hi and lo and got full display with no issues.

tried to find a cangate but theyre very rare. there are some cangate emulators out there but sure if these would work connecting them to the gala wire?
