The only thing that's crazy high is C5 running costs, the C6 is that much better than the C5 the price difference is justified, and then some.

Someone from the C5 RS 6 forum asked me for a comparison of the C5 vs C6, and Shop asked if I had got the C6 in another thread, hence I posted this here. My actual review was in the C6 section. The title of the thread makes it quite clear what you will be reading about, if you're going to get offended. I suggest you don't read on anymore.

P.S Did I mention the fuel gauge on the C6 doesn't read 40/50/60 etc when you park it up, and then zero the following morning?

Its all well and good saying its got 750bhp...but when you actually use that bhp your mpg goes to single figures...and so you'll do <200miles to a £110 fill up.

Also Amar, don't drive the C6 down to 0miles range as you likely run out of fuel.

The thing I got tired of in the C6 was having to put up with the poor fuel consumption for not much in return...there is only so often you can plant your foot and do 160mph in a blind of an eye.

I rarely get more than 200 miles from a tank. But then I enjoy every one of them. Neither the C5 or C6 are cars for people that need to worry about fuel economy. What the hell, I can get single figure mpg out of my M3 if I try.

What do you think of the RS3, DK? I could easily get a wanting on for one of those. They look much better in the flesh than they do in the photos, I find.

Let's say the C6 does 5 MPG less vs my C5, that's only an extra £373 a year at the 6k miles PA I will be doing in the C6. Thanks for the tip, DK, I won't let it run down to 0. I've not got to 160 MPH yet, but Liam did 140 MPH on the shortest stretch of country lane on the way from the train station back to his house.

As a guide, the absolute BEST I could get from the C6 using my proven economy drive/route was 23mpg ...vs. Equivalent of 30mpg in the C5 ... And I would imagine that gap would open up when you press the loud pedal.

It just made the shortest of journeys so expensive as whilst that 5.0V10 was cold the economy was single figures.

Anyway, Shop...the RS 3...just 600miles around Welsh A/B roads and its completely changed my view on it...I love it!!

£2000 will seem cheap when u need some new ceramic records up front no?
I like the C6 but its doesn't mean the C5 deserves a ribbing.. As you compare and generally review it as naff inside etc, I disagree...
I think the C5 is a stunning piece of kit and the less buttons the better

I've never seen more than 21-22! Even after leaking intercoolers were fixed...

19.5 is my average unless I am on a long run (at70-80) and then get 23!

With the mileage I do, and the fact that ceramics last four times as long as standard steel brakes, my C6 won't need new ceramics for another 25 years. In which time the C5 would have had £6k's worth of cambelt changes, not to mention brakes.

I have posted an informed, honest and unbiased review comparing the two models as I was asked to. I haven't come on here and said 'The C5 is <beep>'. If you''re going to take it personally and be over sensitive, go read the Audi magazine circa 2002, there you will find plenty of biased/flattering reviews.
