+1

The CD/TV button is replaced by a MEDIA button on the latter RNS-E, personally although I like ours (which is the later ‘MEDIA’ spec one) I would not pay £500 for something that cannot use 7 digit postcodes.

Some vendors are selling later 2010+ RNS-E with C5 faceplates on. I've contacted a couple who supply them like this.

When I saw the ad, I just assumed it was a 2012 unit.

Completely agree with DK, 2010+ or nothing.

+1 there Shop.

That's one if my mods this year, I'm pretty sure it's fairly straight forward to change faceplates on the rnse.

Ive seen the a3 rnse on the bay for sub £400, do think that's a worthwhile upgrade straight away.

What about this one?

What are the actual differences between the new and old generations other than the SDHC capacity?

Also, how to recognise the right one from part number / photo?

I'm pretty sure that's the one Shop,

It's got the 3d map view.with split screen, led screen, and the tv/cd button has been changed to the media button.

I may have to look into how hard it is to change these fascia, wonder if there's anything on YouTube?

What's wrong with that one? Price?

There is a guide to changing the fascia floating around. It's not straightforward, but it's doable. The problem is finding the donor fascia.

I don't like that glossy black screen surround. Looks tacky. I wonder if it can be changed for the grey one.

Not the guide I was thinking of, but interesting reading nonetheless:

Any part numbers you get need to be from Vagcom to be accurate. As you know there's no such thing as a 2005 on RNSE for the C5 they are either TT or A3 units with a C5 A6 faceplate. The latest European mark 2 units end in 193G Or 193H the earliest 2010 units with sdhc and higher resolution screen end in 193B and 193C.
Just remember the part number on the casing is irreverent if you buy it secondhand as is the glossy finish and chrome knobs.

Gents did Audi do one of these with digital radio? And if so does anyone know what I should be looking for? Alternatively is there an after-market solution?
