Welcome to the Carbotech club Mr Footlong, I told you you'd love 'em! :D

Your experiences mirror mine perfectly. I was about to go for the C6 upgrade, but with these you simply don't need to, absolutely night and day compared with the standard pads.

Squeel does seem to get better after a while. Barely get any squeel now after a few months.

Mart.

Interesting stuff. The only question now is how long do these last.

Mart, have you done any track days or anything?

Not done any track days, but had them in since November last year and they have no visible wear that I can see so far. I do drive the car hard though, and with 560ps, my brakes are CRUCIAL! :D

OK. My point being that at £432 a pop, if you get through them quickly then that can work out pretty expensive. Same for disks - how harsh are they on the disks? If they eat disks, then that could be a no-no for some people.

It's important to know because a set of C5 disks and XP10 is going to run you at least a grand. A set of C6 disks and pads is about £540.

I already had new discs all round and had heard so much flaff over the last few months about getting a perfect C6 working setup that it just wasn't worth the time, money and aggro for me at least. Ben, If I lived down the road from you then no doubt I would have ended up trying the C6 setup out but that wasn't ano option ;) My discs re right for my car, my calipers are right for my car, the old brake pads just needed to burn in hell is all.

Mart, did you manage to shoehorn shims in with your pads? Was a no go on mine at least.

Back to Shopp, there are plenty of reviews of these around, the MLR one was particulary informative as it did discuss longevity too. Different car of course but meh.

Good to hear our pads are working well for you :)....it often shocks people just how much difference it can make just simply changing to a quality pad :beerchug:

Can't agree more really. For me there's a shortlist of 2 brands for pads and that's Pagid (performance - RSxx) and Carbotech.

By comparison the low end pads like EBC feel like you're stopping with wooden brakes.

You can expect discs to wear more than with OEM (that nice "bite" has to come from somewhere) but well worth it.

So Ian, do you do all the baking in the kitchen or do you just bark orders at the women?

 if only i could get women to make/bake brake pads life would be so much better :D

I certainly wouldnt want to be baking the pads in my kitchen thats for sure, smell from resin curing and bonding agents isnt so pleasant and would put me off my food  :D

Update. Brakes still flipping brilliant. Am suffering from a bit of squeel when pootling around in town etc as expected when they aren't but apart from the very first mild stop after you have started up from cold and driven off, they are beautifully sticky. I genuinely have no fear about being able to stop or not anymore regardless of the speed/acrobatics at the time. Just need to get around to swapping the brake fluid and job done near enough.

1 side note, no way around this ladies, they are dusty.
