That is all.

FON

Forget the rnse, might look oem but it's too much money for what it is. Get something better for the money, might not look quite right but will work and sound better.
I have brought a VCDS of NHN with no problems.

Thanks guys. Bam, that head unit looks fairly turd-like to me at least but I went digging and shockingly, a fair few people seem to be having QC issues with them a few months down the road (switching off when hitting bumps, having to slap them to turn them back on, radio going walkabout for no good reason, Ipod issues all over the place etc). I am assuming that you were yanking my chain  .

I had seen the ones from Lithunia on Ebay and am now seriously considering buying one, have others bought from them? Going to be a tard and stick with the RNS-E as I want the DIS. Probably going to skip on the Bluetooth as I hate talking to people on the phone, don;t actually get to drive that much as I work from home and I use my mobile pretty well solely for email!.

Bilko, thanks again for getting Nigel in contact with me and I will also contect CraigyB to see who wants the work based on me providing most of the kit and when they might be able to do it, all subject to actually getting a RNS-E here first!

Cheers,

Nick :)

I also went down the route of falling out with everyone I know to avoid the expense of installing a bluetooth system. This method has also proven invaluable come christmas time for saving lots of money. I'm now working on falling out with all my family, too.

I've been playing in my mate's WRX STi PPP hawkeye this weekend. Is that one that you had? How do you find it compared to the RS6? It seemed pretty brutal to me and very grinworthy, but a lot of that could be autosuggestion based on the comedy noises. I need to know before I go up against him in my 6 :)

Nope, my STI5 was a tad more special imo and a fair bit faster  http://www.ftaclan.net/fluffy/index.htm

I can't comment as have only briefly driven a lardier hawkeye but i wouldn't be too worried myself unless fairly modded. Before I removed the hybrid Garret GT35 rotated turbo and downtuned the supporting components prior to sale in late 2008, she ate RS6's for dinner to be honest (sub 1200 kg) but that never stopped me wanting one! End tune was around 492/473 ftlbs on slightly generous rollers on the Garret setup. Yes yes nothing is mentioned about the Garret etc in that page but i knew she was totally bulletproof and didn't want to put people off coming to see her.

Only sold her due to the fiancee getting in to financial trouble. After selling I realised that i loved the car more than the fiancee and broke up with her after a month of mild depression :FIREdevil: If that isn't pure petrolhead antics then I don't know what is!

Nup, I ain't puling your chain... heard nothing bad about these and all looks very OEM to me. Have you got the source of these bad reports?

Sorry, when I said turd-like I really meant that it just looked a little tacky button/GUI-wise to me from the various pictures I saw. Here is one of the links where I read about some of the issues people started to experience - http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthrea ... ini-SD-USB

All I did was google dynavin review and went from there I think. Also, I take that doesn't interface with the DIS either? Not totally discounted it but seems a little too Work In Progress for me currently and I need something fairly bullet/idiot proof for the other half to use too. Just checking again, has anyone on here actually bought one of those RNS-E units from that Lithuanian seller on Ebay? Checking the seller's feedback didn't suggest anyone had bought an A6-specific unit, yet.

Cheers,

Nick :)

Mr footlong you really want to be wary of rs6's that have 700lb/pr ft / 950 mn's or more....standard looking as well :assflash:
950 nm torque!

Ohh running bridgestones because they are the best ;)

:bash: I think a lot of those issues were from the different Bose systems. I'd like to know if there was a install done by a pro like Craigyb, because to be honest, I don't have a lot of faith in a bunch of Canadians getting it right on a self-install.
peterp on AudiSRS has one in his B5 and hasn't reported any issues, I seem to recall that it was installed by ttints.co.uk. If they can guarantee it'll work then it'd be winner for me, if, I didn't already have a RNS-E. Failing that, one of those lovely widescreen, thin bezel Kenwoods would be very interesting.

Got a kenwood 7240bt in mine, ok it doesn't look oem but the sound is fantastic and being a touch screen it's a piece o p1ss to use. Plus it has garmin sat nav built in which is superb, full ipod features and easy to fit a reverse camera if wanted.

Can you get BT with RNS-D without the MFSW. I know FISCON have a system that integrates with the DIS as 4 figures for a sat nav system (RNS-E) plus bluetooth is ridiculous.
She may be big and heavy but its whats on the inside that counts.....

It may however be my only option, I want DIS integration and I want it to look OEM..I have probably convinced myself that , this kind of robbery is justified. Brakes, engine, gearbox, suspension I can understand..sat nav and bluetooth..lol. Better book a holiday to keep `er indoors pleased. :bash:

I want to post a respone to this topic but can't....I simply get freaked out every time I see Mr Footlong's hilarious avatar. Should we not all just go to something similar to Bam Bam's?

I have Footlong's avatar in my imagestore, it's slightly less unnerving in a larger scale, believe me.

Only ever seen one other person using that as an avatar before :D. Haven't spoken to CraigyB or Nigel yet as been busy doing all the company tax year paperwork this weekend and took the car to get her detailed today too, mmmm, shiny. The previous owner had kids and lived in the arse end of nowhere so you can guess what the paintwork looked like. Walked away with a slight discount for the work on the promise that I gave the Detailer first dibs on her if I ever sell, he was totally smitten!

Company card got bloody cloned last week and funds are now short until I get those back and some clients cought up what they owe than I will be humping various people's legs, not forgetting a trip up to MRC :jump_clap:
