Conti Sport Contact 5

Post by davemfox » Fri Aug 19, 2011 10:06 am

Anyone running either the 5s or 5Ps in 20"?

My fronts are on the wear limit and am looking for a new pair.

Put some michelin PS2 or PSS on; You won't regret it. Far better than the contis.

Thanks for that. What are the Michi's like in the snowy/cold weather we had last year?

Don't know about the snow, but in the wet they are shockingly good.

I suggest that if you will be doing a lot of snow driving then winter tyres would be in order.

PS3 worth the expense on any car

I had michelins on my Carrera 3.2 - they were the best on that car.

When I bought an Audi B5 S4 I got michelins and they were horrible, so were Pirellis. But Continentals were awesome.

Changed the 3.2 for a 993 Carrera, and got Contis on it as they were so good on the S4 - disaster! Found Pirellis OK and Michelins great again.

When I got the B5 changed for a B6 S4 I naturally thought that Contis were the way to go from the previous results - wrong, Pirellis just don't inspire confidence either and Dunlop Sports were my choice.

Now on my C5 I've tried Continental Sport Contact 2 and 3s. The 2s seemed to be made of poor quality plastic and the 3s were very poor in wear rate, and to be honest in the wet the car was a liability. Now I'm on Goodyear Eagle Assymetrics (on recommendation from the legend that is "Cornishmoocher") and the car feels right on them. I'm told that GY are changing this model tyre and I hope the new model will be "knobbly bit" compliant as I'll look for them next time.

Moral = some Tyres suit different models and they are not always interchangeable.

Couldn't agree more.

The only tyres I would put on an RS6 are PS2 and GY Eagle F1 Assy V1. If they were unavailable I would go for PSS. I have heard that the PS3 aren't as good as the PS2.
