Don't see the part number for 0.5l but the other part numbers are correct.

I chickened out of the Citreon oil and got the VW audi spec, its really just not worth risking the gearbox for a saving of 50 quid! Should arrive monday as VW apparently only have 2 litres of the stuff in the whole of Ireland??!!!

I just had a local garage change the ATF on mine day before yesterday. It instantly felt a little suspect when I collected it with a faint whine which grew in pitch with RPMs. Drove it a bit, make a few sounds I was definitely not familiar with, then made the call back to say something wasnt right. Got home, code read it, and sure enough came up with 17095 Transmission Fluid Temp Sensor (G93): Implausible Signal P0711 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent.
I have read the connector next to the valve body where it is positioned can get gunked up, but would it be the cause of the weird behavior? Also, if there are any air locks in the valve body, will they definitely eventually work their way out, and it'd be a simple case of topping back off the ATF?

The whine sounds like the fluid level is low. Did you check the garage knew how to check the level properly? I.E. overflows at 35° (Vagcom) with engine running having gone through all the gears?
I'm wondering if the temp sensor is out of the ATF that's why it's getting implausible readings.
In any case, whining is a bad sign - it means your ATF pump is cavitating because it's not getting enough ATF in the feed.

FFS, don't these companies EVER test-drive the bloody car when they've done work? So you only got this sound AFTER you collected it? Sounds like they've totally botched it and not filled it properly. I wouldn't get my 'local garage' to do an ATF change on one of these (not unless my local garage was MRC!). Have they done many?
What prompted you to get it done? Mileage; behaviour etc?
Out of interest, what's your mileage on the clock?

They're ex audi master techs. 'Local garage' probably inferred something completely different. These guys have a fair rep.
70k and box number two. ATF change is part of the warranty schedule after the rebuild 6 months ago. Purely prophylactic.
