Rns-e retrofit
Re: Rns-e retrofit
Quite right. There were faint alarms bells going off in my mind when I wrote that.
Daytona RS6 C5 Avant. Viper'd, Billies, Waggers, MTM box brain, C6 stoppers, xcarlink, R8 coolant cap (woohoo)
///M3 E46 | XC90 (V8, natch) | Passat GTE | RR Classic V8 flapper

under the steering wheel / knee bolster
tap into it
job done
Re: Rns-e retrofit
if you don't want the trouble of connecting the CAN bus high/low, you can buy the CAN bus simulator adapter from kufatec
you'll loose the display in the odb but the fitting of a RNS-E takes 30min and everything is working

RS6 C5 avant - KW V3 - Wagners

It takes 30 min anyway doing it the proper way

Re: Rns-e retrofit
Right-o I am prepared for the wrath of asking retarded questions but here goes....
Had a bash at fitting the rns-e today, a mechanic was supposed to be on hand just in case I done something wrong - he did not turn up! All going well and fitted in to the dash but have a couple of issues:-
I fed the can wire supplied by kufatec through before sliding the unit in, took the trim off round the knee bolster to tap in to can l and h but was not sure where to tap in to? I was guessing the unit was the silver box up high on the left of the wheel - had a connector with a number of wires along with two thicker black wires. Is this the right area and which wires do I tap?
Couple of other things - i assume the small metal connector from the back of the rns-d next to the radio antenna was the diversity antenna. I took off the small plastic clip and tried to plug in to the adapter but not a very good fit - seemed the natal square was too big?
The unit does not switch off when I take the key out - does this require programming via VAG.com?
The sat nav says the disk is wrong - it's Defo the right one that came with the unit again is this because it needs to be programmed?
Sorry to ask all these stupid questions but changing a plug is about as technical as I get!!
