Water buildup in engine bay???

Post by 500PLUS » Fri Jun 24, 2011 3:54 pm

I met a guy recently who just sold his 6 and listed endlesly the problems....as you would.. He said a common problem was water buildup under the removable panel at rear of engine, centrally, left of the pollon filter area. The water then somehow ends up in the car/footwell etc....Whats that all about?

Or was it a one off.

There's a drain there, and it gets blocked with leaves and crap. It then fills up and spills into the pollen filter and down into the passenger footwell where it causes problems with the canbus module which is under the carpet - the gateway that everythign else talks through.

Is there a guide somewhere to give this a clean out? Perhaps add to your list of helpful threads?

there is a rubber bung at the bottom of this plenum chamber which blocks up to easily , Audi recommended a long time ago to push it out to make the draining easier
the plastic cover at the top (scuttle plate ) can be fitted incorrectly as well which lets water in , been there , seen it , got the t-shirt , and the new control module under the passenger seat , three years ago now , passenger footwell was awash !!!!
all paid for by Audi as it was their tec who didnt refit the scuttle plate properly :audibash:
