Post by white23 » Sun Nov 14, 2010 11:39 pm

I've had enough of being messed about, had several 'test pilots' with zero intention of buying the car which is sorted (isn't a bag of sh1t) and am not annoyed. Cleaned her up/filled her up/changed my plans to accomodate and been royally f@cked around so thats that. Never sold a car before but what a pain in the ass!! Either the car gets bought by Weds morning or I'm just going to say "f@ck it" and trade it in.

dude... did you take my advice on the avert?...... alot of people commented and said that this advert was very good... i had over 120 watchers in 48 hours and it sold within 48 hours from 2 offers and the second on i spoke to i increased his offer with a counteroffer and he payed a deposit of 100 on paypal and rest in cash etc.

then you can end the auction early to avoid fees....

you need to give alot more pictures like 20 or so of the wheels every angel and videos etc when you are selling something of this value.... you need to show everyone as much as the car as possible becuase they are bidding blind otherwise!

put your phone number on the advert also!

there is no point in getting desarate and lowing your ask and lowing etc... you are on a narrow rollercoaster and somone is just going to rob you for it and you wont feel good at all about the sale.

Appreciate your point gravity but with work I just haven't got time to start making videos but I've taken loads of high res photo's which show all angles very well which all those who have seen have viewed/then test drove. They're 10 mega pixel and blow up lovely. The ad gives loads of info too. To be honest I've never sold a car before and I'm finding it all a pain the in the @ss... appreciate the love though Rs6 brother :-)

I'm afraid not, need to get it done so I can buy my wife a car and then start looking at what I'm going to get for myself once the slush fund is replenished after xmas.

I was trawling through Autotrader yesterday and noticed quite a few cars just above the 10k mark, and a 2004 one with Bilsteins and a respray in white for under 10k (could be a cat d or c, but didn't say)
I would imagine that the competition to sell is quite high at the moment, hence driving the prices down (supply and demand) so if your really after a quick sale this side of christmas i'd stick it up at £11950 and see how you go, i know you was originally asking a lot more than this, and you said if it didn't sell for 14k you'd keep it, but i see this is no longer the case, so it's a buyers market and i'f your really that desperate to sell, then it's a case of pricing it right to attract the attention away from all the others at 12k.

Yes, totally agree with you. I'd changed from the "sell at 14kk or not at all" due to chatting through it with my wife etc and the need to sell to get her a car and then plan what car I'm going to get for myself. If someone waived 11.5k under my nose I'd seriously consider it but no-one has. Surely you'd think (and I am a novice seller) that people would ring me and try their luck? or am I being naive?

To be fair when i was looking a few months back, i fired off several emails to sellers with what i'd consider to be realistic offers.

Only 1 out of 4 entertained any kind of deal, as it happens i bought the car, the other 3 which either didn't reply or replied stating their car was worth more than my offer (don't think they were poor offers either, i offered 1 guy 14k for his and i'm pretty sure it's still for sale, and the price has been dropped to less than this now)
At the last look a good few weeks ago, none of the 3 cars had sold, and every one had had it's price reduced to around or below my offer.

If your prepared to take £11500, which is probably a good price for someone, then i'd stick it on pistonheads for £11950 and see how you go, same with Autotrader, it would be nice to get 13k (your then 1.5k up on what you'd really take) but some people with only £11500 may not even try their luck with you, whereas most people would try for a 12k car with 11.5k in their pocket.

Good luck with the sale.

I've just put it on for 11.5k so lets see what happens. It'll be gone by Wed one way or another, with a bit of luck.

white23 -> Did you manage to sell your car at the last minute or hand it in to a trader?
