A guy contacted me about my car. At first he seemed geniune and keen. A little while into the (e-mail) conversation he dropped in the corker " I'm more concerned with getting good mpg". In my reply I told him the car wasn't an economy diesel and likened the car to Oliver Reed in his heyday, and he didn't come back to me

Oh well.... its true though... lol... ok I didn't sell the car but you gotta see the funny side of that..

Well sometimes you can be 'too' honest.

What you should have said was something like: "For a 4.2 twin-turbo 450hp supercar, the economy can be surprisingly good - up to 30mpg on a run and 17-18mpg around town.." Likening the car to 'Oliver Reed in his heyday' will almost certainly put off any prospective buyer, even the ones with their eyes wide open.

Yep..you fecked up!

hehe well I wasn't too too honest because I told him 20-25 around town and 40 on a run so I did accidentally fib a bit, but he clearly didn't have a clue what he was buying.. or not as the case was.. :-)

Exactly!! thats why I almost spat my coffee over the laptop when I read and could be forgiven for thinking "joker"... is it a coincidence that it later transpired that the guy had bid 1/3 of the asking price on ebay, I have to think not...
