The D2 S8 does it in 14.78, thought the RS 6 would be a little quicker what with the twin turbos an all. Still want one though :D

Have you actually tried your S8 on the 1/4 mile or are you quoting the book figures? The C5 RS6 will do the 1/4 mile in 12.63 according to the book. Even at 13.08/06s, its still alot quicker than the S8. It takes a hell of alot to move 1.9 tonnes 1.5 second faster at that speed. The Bentley Conti GT does it in 13.26 and thats got 100bhp more and 60lb/ft more so you can sit back and admire the RS6 for being so god damn awesome. With rain, inexperience launching the autobox and reaction times you can forgive them for being 0.5 sec slower than the book.

To launch the RS6 autobox properly you need to:

In S mode with ESP button illuminated
Hold the foot brake (left foot).
Press the throttle down until the brake is only just holding the car back
On the green light release the footbrake and feed the power in quickly but smoothly.

This should see you hit the 12's.

P.S i dont reccommend 1/4 mile racing if you want to keep your box in one piece. Its not what Audi had in mind when they designed the gearbox.
Now Sold!

Exactly.

Performing this kind of action is. "stall test" on the TC when on a turbo car it will seriously stress the 'box components.

I'd rather not drag the car for this reason.

I've just got myself a c6 rs6 and am hoping to get it to york raceway next season
In the last three years I've been running mercs.
Every one of them (a cl 63 amg, an e63 amg estate and a cls 63 amg) ran 13.1's around 113 mph terminal speed.
I'm hoping to break that magical 13 barrier in the rs6.
The only thing is, the mercs where naturally aspirated and nothing touched me in that class. I'll now be running in the turbo four wheel drive class and will probably get embarrased by a few evo's and scooby's.

You should still smash most evos and scooby's. Unless they are seriously tuned. Rather you than me taking a C6 up the strip. Poor, poor gearbox!!

An RS6 is not a car for a 1/4 mile sprint and if you look at the following list you will see the sort of cars you really need to be considering:
