They don't come with the new shocks , when the shock is removed you can then see any damage . price and pic in the sticky .

Hi all,
Thought of taking this old thread up, since my RS6 is going for a DRC total repair in January. It is paid by Audi 2 year parts warranty, since the DRC was last changed 04 2008.... *sigh*
I have a couple of questions,
1) What else should I have changed at the same time, the top mounts discussed in this thread obviously, but also something else?
2) With the new drc system, will the springs on the shock also be new? Or are they taken from the old drc shocks? Tried searching for this info, but cannot find anything...
All help is appreciated!

Yes, they are dirt cheap and should be changed.
PoRToS, they'll use the same springs. Nothing wrong with them. Hopefully they'll do a good job for you.

He means consider changing them, rather than just staring at your biceps

Hmm. Only a thought - don't the springs get old & tired too? If they use the same springs. Since my RS6 is 110k Miles and 7 years old...Shoppinit wrote:Yes, they are dirt cheap and should be changed.

Or does the DRC affect the wear on the springs too?
For the upper arms, are they difficult to change by themselves? Or are they just probably shot anyway?
Trying just to keep the costs lowish

I don't think you need to change the springs. Can't see the point if they're not broken. As far as I am aware, they don't wear. As long as their elastic limit isn't exceeded, they should work as well as when new. Maybe someone who knows more about springs can correct me.
The control arms are easy to change. Saves time doing it when the shocks are out. Either way, it's not a big job.
