RE: Nice Modification
Is there any guide price yet for the installation?
Early days I appreciate that.

The valves are safe, the system dual fuels when the engine load increases so it won't lean off the mix, the system always starts on petrol so keeping the injectors lubricated, the valve seats are already designed to run unleaded so are not going to be affected. The motor sounds smoother on lpg and there is no injector noise.
My Range Rover has done over 50k on lpg with not signs of detriment , its a cleaner more efficient burn produces less deposits, this keeps the oil cleaner and so helps with engine life.
The tank is 60ltr actual 70ltr total (you only normally get around 55 to 60ltr into these tanks). On the last 4 fills the car took 54lts or about 12 gallons this is giving a little over 200 - 210 miles so average is approx 17ish, not bad then factor 42ppl - 50ppl and its the same running cost as 34mpg.

Looks very neat. I can see the battery, and I guess there's a small bag of bits (Jack etc) to lose somewhere. Only real downside is that I guess you lose the "flat back" in the Avant due to the battery.
Roughly what's the conversion cost?? (So I can do the payback time/distance based on the mileage you quoted)

I have done 38000 miles since buying mine in late June 2007, at say 20k per year, that equates to over 6000 litres of fuel at 15 mpg, which to be fair is all your going to get if you're honest. That gives a saving annually of £2400 if you allow a difference in price of 40p between the fuels. Even if you allow for the fuel switching eating into that by say 30% it is still a significant amount of benefit. It will surely give an effective mpg of 25-30 mpg, over the sort of mileage I do it has to be worth considering.
Pending resolution of some issues with DRC and a minor gearbox oil seal leak, I might be one to make this change.

That Landcruiser we have on lpg is a reasonably inexpensive to run vehicle now, but without the conversion it would be a thirsty nightmare. If ou are going to keep an RS6 for a few years it might be worth considerring cos the price of petrol aint going to remain at this level for long. I would certainly be interested to have a go. Looking forward to hearing about the costings of the change over.
The car is going very well . It's for sale on piston heads ... He's got 2 car's and a motor bike that must go.

RE: Nice Modification
Seriously tempting - must have cost a fortune, if you don't mind me asking...
RE: Nice Modification
He's only asking £18,995 for it, so maybe £3-4K extra for the conversion??
Does look nice (http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1063833.htm) but it's not an Avant so not for me
