Picked up my Sprint Blue Cabrio (the username probably gave that away) last week and enjoying the ownership experience so far. Will be looking to source some replacements for tatty buttons and switches as time goes on.

Should have done more reading, I bought a car with seized exhaust vales and have been working on them the last few days with brake cleaner, freeing oil and a wooden spoon handle. They are at least open but doubt I'll get them back to life. So I'll post a WTB for standard back boxes if not.

2007 car with 65k on the clock, drives beautifully. Once spring has sprung, it'll be in for carbon clean and possibly a stage 1/2 map (but possibly not - just not sure it needs it).

I came from a 1993 Audi 90 Cabriolet, manual 2.3 with a manual roof, owned that car for years. This is what one might call a step up...

Get some photos up. I’m not sure what the need for getting the exhaust valves working is, if there are no vacuum leeks, leave them alone and enjoy the extra noise, especially with the roof down on your way to your next hair appointment.

I leave for work before 6am and live is a residential area. Also my wife will drive it at some point, and the longer it's 'just another Audi ragtop', the better! So there are reasons. Plus I like the option to switch with the push of a steering wheel button!

The valves should free up eventually with enough lubricant, cleaner and elbow grease. If it does get to the stage where you are prepared to take the back boxes off, you might as well try and get them working when they are off.

I left them open overnight with freeing 3 in 1 on them, by the time I drove in and checked them at work, they'd closed! I guess the vibration plus the vacuum pulled them closed so I'm hopefully on the way to a a world of free valves.

Forcing them open again with the car switched off was just as hard as last night, i was shocked they'd closed themselves up. Must be a hell of a vacuum!

Where is the best place to attach pliers to try and work them back and forth? At the moment I am poking them open...

On a separate note, thanks the the forum I have discovered Fontain, which happens to be a 10min drive from work. Car is going in there next week to have the exhaust flaps sorted out.

Select "Full Editor & Preview".
Click "Attachments" tab.
Click "Add files".
Browse to the picture.
Repeat.
Submit.

Picture to prove it can be done...

8 & 10mm H&R?

Plenty on eBay, but I'm not sure about whether they're genuine! Any well known sources?

It's running on Michelin Alpins at the moment and will go in for PS4s in spring so I will sort it then.

Any handling benefit or cosmetic only? I had a Maser 4200 back in the day and they helped massively (as did dropping it 15mm).

Virdee Autos? They use to be pretty good.
