Hi, RS4 owner, Irl..

Post by Mini-E » Sat Jun 07, 2014 3:10 pm

Hi Folks :bigwave:
Just got myself a B7 RS4. Its phantom black, black leather, seems like a very nice spec car, 2 owners, 66k. Really enjoying it at the moment, only have it week yet.

Long time GTR owner, not R35, but R34. In fact, have owned my R34 since before there even was an R35 available. Bayside blue Vspec. The RS4 was not a replacement, so currently still own both. However, by matter of coincidence, someone has put an offer on the car which I think il take, its questionably is there really need for two 400bhp+ motors..... It will however be replaced with something fun!

Back to RS4, its really nice to be in such a well built car, and while I would be used to fairly high performance cars, wouldn't be so used to high spec cars. ie basic bland jap interiors

Now, questions;
How can I find out the full spec of my car? I know theres a list of factory extras on the service book, how can I find out what extras it has?
Also, TPMS has flashed up, checked tyres, its not a flat or losing pressure, whats the most likely cause? Sensor? Whats the easiest way to source the problem?

Ahywho, look forward to searching the forums...

Hi Mini-e!

Firstly, FON and welcome :biggrin3:

Yes, build spec - you can get a uber friendly audi dealer (if they exist) to pull the build spec - I did that when I toyed with buying mine from an approved dealer, but I suspect was a sweetener. I purchased from an indie but I think they did it to maybe secure future servicing...

Otherwise this:

http://forum.rs246.com/viewtopic.php?p=422151

Plug in your codes and see what the spec is. The codes can be found on the sticker on the service manual or pull the boot liner and where the battery is it's there also... Big square block of codes

Tpms - May have a dead sensor - likely as they have a 5/6 year battery life or antennae - VCDS is your friend: http://www.gendan.co.uk/product_VCHU.html to diagnose.

This may help: http://forum.rs246.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... ms#p643917

Enjoy :beerchug:

As a note, I have VCDS, based in south Dublin if you want to take a look at the tpms etc.

Thanks guys

Cheers for that Neil

Tmg; thanks, I'm in the west, in mayo, otherwise I'd definitely take you up on the offer.

I plan on keeping this car for a few years, would you say it would be worth getting one of those VCDS leads?

And yes. Well worth buying an original ross-tech interface. I've had mine since late 90's and easily upgraded each time since. Great product from a great company. Saved me a fortune over the years and a ton of vag cars

Pleasure. VCDS will be the single best investment ever if you plan on keeping the car for sometime. It'll save no end of diagnosis issues and will also enable you to code and adapt a whole bunch of things. RNSE upgrade maybe one day and VCDS will help. Invaluable in my opinion...

Thanks folks

Think I might have to invest in one of these leads so

Strangely, I was just out for a spin now and the TPMS is gone, so most probably a faulty sensor, I have a feeling il see it again

I'm in castlebar, my local roads aren't the worst, but some of the roads down this way can be pretty bad, RS4 is still more comfortable than my GTR, so happy with it

Undecided what il do with the car, plan for now is to keep it standard, I'm hoping il be able to resist the temptation of an exhaust/remap, but I don't know, we'll have to see....

I tried to resist and vowed I'd keep mine standard. Map, exhaust and led make-over soon got the better of me :)

Haha, tell me more about the LED's?

I have my eye on something a little different if I shift the GTR, so I'm hoping that will keep me away from moddin the RS4

I recently got married, and promised my misses I'd get a "normal" car for everyday use, the RS4 is kinda normal isnt it? looking at an exige now, and I've told her I don't even want her option on it, she likes the RS4 and will probably drive it herself, so that's her happy too
