Just found the forum after seeing Chris Harris's video of him in his S4.
At the moment I have an Impreza STi hatch, but I really need an estate as I have two greyhounds.
I know the Impreza hatch isn't to everyone's taste, but I could put the two dogs in the back and go anywhere, even in the recent appalling weather, also the hatch looks like any other hatch, so doesn't stand out too much.
Having had the benefit of AWD in the Impreza I don't want to go back to a 2WD car, but I don't want a traditional 4x4, so the S4 Avant (current model) looks like just the job. RS4 would be a dream but way out of my price range.
My biggest concern with the S4 is the DSG gearbox, are mecatronic units on these gearboxes reliable? Prior to the Subaru I looked at an Octavia vRS, the DSG was nice but at the time forums searches of DSG brought up some alarming results.
