The time has come
The time has come
Hi guys
I am fairly new to the forum idea so please bear with me.
I think its finally time to take the plunge.
Looking at 2006 mugello b7 rs4.55k milltek.white leather.20in alloys.FSH.2 owners.£18995 with 1yr rac warranty.No sat nav.
How good is the rac warranty.
Are 20in alloys too big.
I originally wanted sprint blue with buckets but have heard the bolsters wear a lot.
What are your thoughts please.

Bolsters wear with use, and how careful you are getting in and out. I wouldn't even consider an RS without buckets - it's all part of the 'experience'. Sat nav was one of my 'must haves' too. Have a drive in both and see which you prefer (seems obvious, but some don't).
20" wheels are too big for some, but there are plenty of members with them (and I'll be one next year) and some run even bigger. Have a look through the B7 RS4 section and you'll see a few threads on running 20"s.
Not sure about white leather... do you mean the cream OEM stuff, or actually white re-trimmed?
RAC warranty probably won't cover much, check the small print and ask around (like you've done here) for anyone who's had experience good or bad.

Re: The time has come
Sounds nice,
Nice bonus with the Milltek already on it, just find out what one it is, Res, Non Res, Valved or Non Valved. As for Sat Nav, I think for resale people will generally want it, however I have it and never use it so its all down to you really. As for buckets I wouldn't even consider buying one without them but thats just me, although I've heard the Recaro Comfort seats are indeed comfier!!! and again most people will be looking for buckets when looking to buy an RS4.
20'' alloys, well they have to be the right looking ones, if you get it right I think they look great, but can also look so wrong sometimes. There was a threat on here recently about 20'' alloys have a look for that and It'll give you an idea of what they look like.
If you end up buying it get some photos up!!

Re: The time has come
As said above, I wouldn't have bought one without the buckets. Sat nav is not too hard to retro fit but I looked for one that had it.
I don't think anyone has fitted bigger than 20inch wheels though, the rolling radius would be too much even with e lowest of low profiles (next size up is 22" isn't it?).
Just bear I mind though that there is more legroom in the back if you get Recaros.

You get 21" alloys too, but I reckon you could squeeze on 22s with stretched tyres. Not sure what size these are, but bigger than 20" for sure!MikeFish wrote:As said above, I wouldn't have bought one without the buckets. Sat nav is not too hard to retro fit but I looked for one that had it.

Also, there's an RNS-E (sat nav unit) in the classifieds. You'd need to know what you're doing to fit it though - needs wired and the aerial installed too.

Re: The time has come
Thanks for the reponse guys.
I think anything bigger than 20s are too big.I prefer cars to be as left the factory apart from maybe a few subtle mods ie exhaust maybe.
I get what was said about buckets being part of the experience.
Much thought required.
Will keep yous posted.

Re: The time has come
The old buckets vs Recaros debate comes up every few months, and the only way to know which is right for you is to park your backside in both and see what you think because it's totally down to personal preference - it's far more important that you enjoy the driving experience while you own the car rather than worrying about what the "best" spec is for selling on later. For the very same reason, whichever you go for will sell later on without a problemif you look after it. Yes bolsters will wear more on buckets, but it's fixable for around £100 at a decent trimmer.
Assume you know already, but any car with 20"s has obviously had them added by a previous owner - all cars came with 19'"s or (occasionally) 18"s. Just bear that in mind for future selling on, as any non standard car will most likely appeal to a narrower audience.
My own opinion is that if you want satnav (and the ability to play music from SD cards etc), then you'd be better off waiting for the right car to come up rather than go through the hassle and expense of doing a retrofit, unless you really do find a bargain - I'd say at least 90%+ of cars had factory satnav.
Good luck
