Hello from a C5 RS6 owner!

Hi to all from Stoke-on-Trent!!

I just bought a C5 RS6 Avant, Avus Silver, 53 plate, 67,500 miles when I bought it (69,500 miles 2 weeks later!! LOL!!), 10 service stamps (inc 2 Cam-belt changes). The car is standard, apart from the Bilstein Coilovers the previous owner had fitted at Unit 20, following inevitable DRC issues!!

I thought it would be an ideal place to start owner-ship and to scratch the 'I need to own a Fast Audi itch' that I have had for years, but from a pretty solid base!!

I am going to get it booked in for a health check at Unit 20 ASAP, but will be a week or 2, due to work commitments.

I will post a piccy or two when I work out how!

Maybe not the place to ask... (I expect FON and other suchlike put-downs) However, I expect that all of us Noobs are probably thinking the same thing... I want to sort a warranty out, but which one?? Any recommendations from the more longstanding & senior members of the forum - who undoubtedly know better than me!!

Warranty Direct want £850... But I am hearing good things about 'Click 4 Warranty'... What does everyone think?

Have you had the car checked out by Unit20 yet?

I have just taken the plunge and bought a 53 plate RS6 Avant... I am going to get it checked at Unit 20, as you suggest... Any idea what exactly it is they look for during the check? Its Sunday today, but I will call them tomorrow and get it booked in.

The obvious thing that i'd like them to check is the gearbox...

You can't really check the gearbox IMO, it can be completely smooth and then BOOM, gone. It's a part of C5 RS 6 ownership. Just set £3.5k aside for when the inevitable happens.

BTW, I recently bought a D2 S8 with 212k miles on it, it is still on the original 5HP24 box, doubt it'll last any longer, but as Footlong says - vee shall see.
