Another New B7 RS4 Owner

Post by adigra » Mon Apr 25, 2016 7:38 pm

Hi all!

My name is Adi and I live in West Yorks. Been reading the forums for a while, since deciding to get the RS4, which has finally come home after having 10 days worth of servicing and prep (mostly just waiting for heater pipes from Audi). It's an '07 saloon with 44k miles, carbon trim, wingbacks, etc., including the eyesore of a dashboard phone prep holder. Completely unmodified and unmolested. It has had new brakes, and the wheels must've been done as they are immaculate. I'm treating it to new tyres tomorrow as that's the only MOT advisory it got, and since the nearside one was worn more than the other, I'll have the tracking checked (although it's tracking straight and not pulling, so we'll see).

I'm going to take it to my rolling road wizard who sets up my classic car (who has a 2400hp 4 wheel dyno), to see what it does and whether it is being chocked by carbon deposits.

I have a bit of RS4 experience as my father in law used to have an Avant. They are such amazing cars. Probably total overkill for our roads, but so much fun.

Here it is at home, joining my other true love, Lotus Elan.

Welcome and FON!!

It is not overkill for our roads, it is perfect. If you have driven a C7 you will understand what overkill is!!

Nice low miles too.
Unless it has had a carbon clean in the last 6 months it will almost certainly be carbon covered. Don't worry about it though, just accept the fact the car dynos at 380bhp and save yourself loads of pounds. Post up your power figures here and we'll tell you how if the car is healthy or not. If it is standard and no clean you should be seeing 370-385 ish bhp.
Any less and you have a problem, most likely to be a vacuum leak.

Thank you Mike,

I'm thinking of the RS4 as a long term keeper. It will be well taken care of, so I wanted to start with a low mileage standard car. I've read quite a bit about the various issues, like the vacuum leaks, so am prepared to have to deal with them sooner or later...

Hi there and yes the car looks mint with lovely mileage , I'm a new member to forum as of today and had an rs4 for 10 days although been out of the country on holiday for most of it, anyway I also love be in West Yorkshire (Cleckheaton) and interested to know where and how you get on with your carbon clean? All I've done is Clifford alarm and private plates so far but like the subtle standard look.

Hi Mark. I'm in Ilkley. Haven't had the car on the dyno yet, most likely next week if I can clear some time. The dyno man is just outside of Doncaster, but if the car needs any specialist work and carbon clean, then I'm thinking to go to JJB in York, which is also where I intend to have it serviced when the time comes, since they are the easiest for me to get to.

Thank you Richie!

Haven't had much chance to enjoy it as it's currently having two separate vacuum issues sorted (flaps and brake boost), plus a carbon clean. Luckily all under warranty and at a place of my choosing.
