RNS-E and Digital TV...

If my passenger was to watch TV on the move, they would have to use digital to get a good picture all the time right? If so, how is it retrofitted to this RNS-E unit? Anyone got ideas/suggestions...?

Thanks,
Rob

Digital will give you a better quality picture it needs a consistent and strong signal. If the signal drops your passenger will end up watching a blank screen. If you go for analog then although the picture quality may not be quite the same it will be very close (possibly indistinguishable on the size of screen) and any drops in signal whilst on the move will degrade the picture but should not drop it completely.

DAB manufacturers are trying to get around the signal loss issues with digital audio by fitting multiple tuners to their units. I don't know how successful this has been but maybe someone else can shed some light.

so far my personal experians of digital freeview in a car, is useless when moving parked ups ok to fair, playing with different antennas.

digitals all or nothing with the watchableness, analouge can still be watched untill it gets to bad a reception, just the quality in the picture / sound sufferes0

Since the B8 A4 will be fitted with MMI, it's almost certain that Audi will never develop a digital tuner for the RNS-E (there is already a digital TV tuner for the MMI system).

So for digital you'll have to use an aftermarket tuner and antenna system.
