Alpine kce 425i

Can any 1 help
With the alpine kce 425i do I have to have the TV tuner or will it plug straight into the rnse on my 2006 b7 rs4

Hi,
I believe the Alpine unit replaces the OEM TV tuner using its connection on the back of the RNS-E!
Don't think having the tuner is a requirment as its obsolete after fitting the above!
Maybe someone more clued up can correct me if I'm wrong :bash:

I've already answered this question from you on another Audi forum :(

Sadly the reply from angryant is incorrect - the RNS-E will NOT directly accept the composite video from the KCE-425i or any other AV device.

You MUST connect it via wither the Audi TV tuner, or a MultiMedia Apater such as the Kufatec IMA-Plus.

These do two things:
- send signalling over the CAN bus to inform the RNS-E that an AV input is available
- convert the composite (analogue) video into the digital form required by the RNS-E
