Hi, hoping someone can help me here! Just had my 99 S3 serviced by a local specialist and had the cambelt changed at the same time. After the job (which was nicely done) the radio (Bose with rear 6 CD) started to emit a clicking noise which is engine revs related. Sounds like the old days when suppressors were used on the ignition circuits to stop a similar issue. Anyway, spoke to the garage and they said they hadn't been anywhere near the ignition so didn't know what the problem was. Please help if you can, this is driving me nuts and I'm not sure where to start.
Cheers
Graeme

I have the cambelt changed on mine last Sept by a stealer.
After the job was finished the car ran in limp mode, i took it back to them and they said that the intake temp sensor had failed. When they changed it they found the the lead to it had actually been crushed, not the sensor at all.
They said that they had been no where near the lead when they did the cambelt, bloody stealers!

Ah sounds familiar! When I did take the car back I mentioned that I thought something had happened to the electrics as the temp guage was drfting between zero and 90 (where it used to sit all of the time). They then proceeded to replace the temp sensor (new upgraded model supposedly recommended by stealer). This did fix the guage (but to the tune of £76) but the radios still buggered. Think I'll have to have a scout around the engine bay this weekend to see whether anything's been nipped, moved, etc. Suggestions still welcome tho'!
Re: Radio problems
Is it possible that they've left an earth strap off, or moved it to a different point?Flat930 wrote:... the radio (Bose with rear 6 CD) started to emit a clicking noise which is engine revs related.
