Help!! Disc won't go into satnav plus!

Post by 1982Deaks » Tue Sep 11, 2007 7:46 pm

I'm trying to put a more up to date disc into my sat nav plus.
The old disc ejected okay, but now neither the new disc or the old disc will go back in, as if something is physically stopping it. Anybody got any ideas?

Tried sticking it in every which way for the last hour and no joy.
When i probed around with a screwdriver there seems to be 2 "things!" sticking up that when you press them with the screwdriver start a motor running? should these be down?

I don't know what it is but I'd suggest you try a full power cycle.

Still no joy in getting it back in. Dippy, what's a full power cycle?

at a guess i'd say make sure you've got the code then pull the unit out and unplug it for a while then reconnect, alternativly disconnect the battery and reconnect it

Tried pulling the fuse, no joy. Took the battery off and left it for a couple of hours, still no joy!. Looks like taking to a radio repair shop, let them have a look :(

daft question, you are putting it in the slot and not the gap between the nav screen and the facia plate. i just looked at mine and i can see two "things" poking up at either end of the gap, i didn't poke anything with a screwdriver though

Disk will go in almost to the hole in the middle and thats it.
Yeah I am putting the disc in the right hole! I have tried putting in between the screen and the fascia a couple of times though!!

If your brave enough, then there is a fix for this problem, you need to remove the RNS-E from the car and remove the top cover. There you will find a small piece of metal near the front of the unit which is bent down, and need to be bent back up. This small bit of metal is catching on the hole in the centre of the disk, that's why the disk will only go half way in.

yup i had mine out over the weekend, you need either the correct set of "keys" or a set of feeler blades and a pair of pliers. insert the keys or feeler blades into the slots above the display and flag destintaion buttons and under the radio/cd/tv and navigation buttons, you should feel a bit of resistance as the keys go in. the genuine keys lock in and can be used then to pull the unit free of the dash. with the feeler blade method you might get lucky and find it comes free by simply pulling on the knobs, if not the knobs will pop off so just use a pair of pliers on the shafts and ease it out that way, just make sure that when you grip the shaft you have it with the split going across the opening of the jaws rather than parallel to them or you may compress the split and break one side of the shaft off.

the lid of the unit just pops off by levering it with a screwdriver.
