thanks all! - rns-e and bt oem install 2001 allroad

Just wanted to say thanks for the writers of the howto's and information posted here in the forum. nsxjr, teddybgone and craigyb i think being the main ones.. Without which i'd still be stuck with a lot of wires in the car!

This weekend I managed to retrofit an rns-e and oem bt bluetooth to my 2001 audi allroad. Wasn't all straightforward though.

I managed to get the canbus signals from the clocks. The clocks were a bloody tight fit, had to get someone to pull up on the dash to allow me to pull the clocks free. Btw i used a valve lapping sucker thingy to pull the clocks out, worked a treat.

I'd bought an rns-e adaptor off ebay and a denison ice-link thingy. I found that removing the cd-changer cable and plugging in the ice link caused me a few problems. Namely I lost the k-line and the GALA feed. I cut off the plug used for the cd changer and used the spare pins to add to the ice-link cable to give me the k-line and GALA back.

Coding seemed to go ok, i now have the DIS showing the radio station, navigation info and BT info.

The main problem i had was the rns keeping asking for the code when i first plugged it in, gave it an hour did a reset holding the outer two buttons and it worked fine.

Took it out for a spin and all works great, btw the diagnostic mode was great for debugging the lack of gala signal. BT works really well, shame my n95 doesn't sync phonebook entries :(

Oh and the rs6 carbon trim arrived too, so fitted that whilst i was at it..

----
I have a few questions if anyone can help..

Where did you install the mic for the oem bluetooth.. didn't think it should hidden as it wouldn't work that well would it? Or can someone recommend a good mic.. is there any way to adjust the mic as it works ok, but apparantly i'm a little quiet..

I am dissapointed with the icelink as it doesn't show the song titles on the rns or dis. Is there a better unit i should of bought!? :(

I have a bose setup, but i think i forgot to ground the bose pin.. it all sounds ok to me, is there much difference with it grounded? Took ages to get the rns to click in, so don't really wanna disturb it if i can help it..

Whats the easiest way to get a line level feed as i'd like to add a better subwoofer in the boot, a nice custom flush install...? (i have bose already)

Next step I'd like to add a dvd player for the g/f on long journies and a feed so i can plug the camcorder in to watch footage i've recorded. What do I need to accomplish this?

Again thanks for all your help thus far! didn't take too many piccies sorry!
