Hi all, getting geared up for the new arrival later this week & need a towbar, ideally retractable or removable. Am only going to be towing a trailer for camping (brenderup 1250).

I emailed my usual fitter but they said their towbar suppliers reckon they do not make a towbar for the RS4 avant which sounds a bit odd. Can anyone either confirm if a standard A4 towbar of the same year model will fit the RS? Or ideally, if anyone can point me towards a RS4 specific one?

Does your car have DRC?
If so, you can't fit a towbar as the DRC central valves and there pipework are mounted under the rear boot section and are in the way of the towbar fitting frame.

I gad local garage fit a hidden tow bar using geniune Audi harnes when 1st bought new 2019 £650 but no DRC

Cheers for the comments guys. I spoke with my local fitter who has done all my previous audis & he said he wont touch it due to Audi no being cooperative or will to share technical details to ensure wiring esp is not going to break anything.

applecrate I've attched a few pages from the Audi manual about the towing bracket and electronics.
I found an A6 towbar retrofit pdf which maybe similar.
I've also got the electrical wiring diagrams as well if that's any use to you.

Out out interest, where have you got that Audi manual from? Looks like it's super detailed!

Yes I have the full A4 B9 Audi manual including the RS4, a copy happened to come up on ebay not long after I got mine, to compliment my VAG-COM cable.
It has proved very helpful on several occasions. The only down side is your Audi dealership doesn't like it when you know more about your car than they do!
