Factory Orders on Hold??

Was looking to get some quotes for a new RS4 B9 via Carwow and was told by an Audi dealer down south that you cannot order new factory builds and they won’t start again until mid 2019. Anyone got the inside scoop?? Saw a comment on emissions changes globally or something, but couldn’t find anything clear on what the reason was.

That’s correct, not new news. All to do with WLTP.

New news to me as I was asking for a quote, I thought there had been some elongated delivery times but hadn't thought it was so bad they were just not taking orders full stop.

Not much out there on it from an Audi perspective other than this, which doesn't tell you much - https://www.audi.co.uk/about-audi/wltp/ ... odels.html

My reading of what I can find indicates that they are having to do 3x the levels of testing for WLTP and are as a result slowing or shutting down production lines or in the RS4's case not taking orders at all. Granted this article is on VW but going to be the same for all manufacturers - https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/indu ... ltp-delays

Be very interested in what this does to earnings at all Car manufacturers this year.

Just means they’ll sell more outside of the EU. They won’t be short of takers!

Doesn't quite add up to me. RS4 is listed under "WLTP tested models" in this link so why the need to stop production?

Wow, that is a long time... Damn treehuggers. A shame because it is a dream to drive one.

I was told no RS4 builds until into Q4 but going by the info above it might be later

Great for current owners, hardly any others around! I was at a VAG show recently and not one other B9 there.

Yep, thats what I was told when picking mine up nearly 6 weeks ago. No new orders filled until 2019. Now done 1,800 miles and still not seen a single other one on the road......!

And no one has mentioned possible impact of Brexit yet on prices (increase of 3-5K on a RS4 type car according to SMMT if good deal not completed).
Sorry, but someone had to.

What about the RS5? Can you still order it?
I was told the engines were the problem but they share the same engine.
Couldn't it be just marketing to keep it exclusive?

I placed an order in June, and was told due to WLTP no cars being imported, but the expectation was for a delivery in October.

I was told by Cheltenham today that they were not taking any new orders at all until summer 19?! Apparently the new orders will be on a facelift RS4? Seems to me that the dealers don't even know whats going on, as I was told something completely different by Northampton. Have decided to leave it, until its all sorted i think....

Spoke to Aberdeen Audi this week and they're indicating that Audi have suspended all ordering for S and RS vehicles until Q1 2019. They had a one in the network that roughly matched the spec I was looking for but there is always something that you would /wouldn't spec if you were buying new, plus the 2,000 miles of someone else's driving.

In this case it had Aluminium Race Inlays, which I'm not keen on (always the small things, carbon all the way) and it didn't have the Pano roof, which I've come to quite like in my current SQ5.

I'm inclined, like vestax32 to wait until next year and get all the options I want, especially given the cost, need to make sure you get what you want. The fact it may be a facelift RS4 makes the prospect of waiting even more interesting / likely

That is the only explanation that makes sense, especially when considering the RS4 is already WLTP tested.
Only other explanation is if Audi have been caught cheating tests (again :P ).
