B9 RS4 ?
Re: B9 RS4 ?
I am pretty sure Audi themselves have said nearer 400, but cannot lay my hands on the info. Doesn't make sense to tread on toes of 6 and R8.
Re: B9 RS4 ?
It's got to put out more the b8 mind you that will not be hard seeing as they don't make the rated power
I would say nearer to 500
I would say nearer to 500
Re: B9 RS4 ?
I'll be 460-465PS but it won't matter coz MRC et al will get it putting out over 500 with a stage 1, and the world will be a better place again.
No matter where you go, there you are.
Re: B9 RS4 ?
Wonder if it will have a coke problem like the last 2I'll be 460-465PS but it won't matter coz MRC et al will get it putting out over 500 with a stage 1, and the world
Re: B9 RS4 ?
I reckon it needs to be in the high 400s (circa 480) as it needs to be faster than the RS3. It won't be treading on the toes of the RS6 as that will be an outgoing model by the time the 4 comes out and then the next gen 6 will be faster again.
Unless of course it goes on a big diet!
400 brake and a little less weight will still make it slower than an RS3. That won't help it sell.

Re: B9 RS4 ?
It should be a slightly lighter car with between possibly 450 & 480 bhp, the biggest change will be the increase in tourque it seems according to the Audi powertrain department, the guys won't tell me much as at the moment its the best kept secret they have lol.
MY2015 Audi RS4 Avant quattro, Panther Black Crystal, Black leather, Black inlays, 20" V-Spoke wheels
Re: B9 RS4 ?
I think the coke issue is mainly down to the way you use the car. If it frequents lap dancing bars, travels around with too much cash in your pocket and works in the city, then I can see how it happens.RIV wrote:Wonder if it will have a coke problem like the last 2I'll be 460-465PS but it won't matter coz MRC et al will get it putting out over 500 with a stage 1, and the world
Most RS4's living in the countryside don't suffer so much. They tend to have issues with hairs in the boot due to all the dogging..... allegedly.
It's all torque talk.
Re: B9 RS4 ?
I'll have a coke problem then... not sure about my car.
No matter where you go, there you are.

Re: B9 RS4 ?
It wil almost certainly be forced induction and therefore almost certainly have more torque. That is a given if you ask me.geoffdunk wrote:It should be a slightly lighter car with between possibly 450 & 480 bhp, the biggest change will be the increase in tourque it seems according to the Audi powertrain department, the guys won't tell me much as at the moment its the best kept secret they have lol.

China and the U.S. Don't do Avants

Not sure if you saw the Fortitude link posted previously -HYFR wrote:China and the U.S. Don't do Avants
"Hollerweger confirmed the RS 4 will be Avant only because that is what customers expect of the RS 4. While America typically isn’t an Avant market, that doesn’t mean we won’t get it… but it also doesn’t mean that we will. Hollerweger sited America and China as Audi’s sources for greatest growth and that bodes well for model expansion. He also pointed out that America is buying more Avants, meaning there’s more of a business case for such models. Whether or not that includes the RS 4 Avant, Hollerweger wouldn’t confirm.
Left unsaid, there doesn’t appear to be enough market for an RS 4 sedan. With the RS 5, an RS 4 sedan would be redundant and not likely sell in great enough number to make sense."

Which seems to contradict what Hollerweger has supposedly confirmed. The synic in me might say it's just Autocar trying to gain more traffic...?
'15 B8 RS4 - SOLD
Re: B9 RS4 ?
i always got the impression that the RS5 never sold in the same quantity as the RS4 (b7) saloon/cab, so i think you could easily have both on the market without too much cannibalisation of sales - esp given that 1) Audi seem to want to put out as many derivs of each car as possible, 2) the RS badge is now produced in quantities not previously seen before, 3) Audi will want to get as much saturation in places like China where margin is probably much higher than European markets, 4) BMW have a coupe and a saloon to compete with...
on the flip side, they do seem to be doing just one RS per class - e.g. RS3 sportsback, RS4 Avant, RS6 Avant - just RS5 is excpetion with coupe and cab version. Would be good to see a saloon thou.
but thats just my perception...
