Faulty engine covers

I have the carbon engine cover on my car, I didn’t spec it , it was a stock car so it was an “added bonus”. I got the car on good Friday and an just about to get my third carbon engine cover, as the previous ones have all come unglued.

It seems the carbon section of the cover is just glued to the plastic part, and with heat and vibration it just comes loose, towards the windscreen end.

Anyone else out there seen this? I can’t imagine I’m the only one, and it seems fairly <beep> quality for a £500 plus option IMHO.

Wow. Ask a refund and get a normal one?
Three in a row is really bad quality. The hot V turbos may be a culprit, but the stock ones can handle it.

I'm still on the original one - the glue residue just about keeps it in place. It's my own fault really, as it is a completely ridiculous and expensive option to tick, just to sit right on top of the Hot V.

I think you'd need Space Shuttle levels of bonding to keep that thing together...

Audi have given me a plastic one and refunded me the price for the carbon one. Woo hoo.
So there you have it. Precedent is set.

If the Carbon engine covers are stick on efforts - one wonders about the other carbon parts. I enquired after the gloss black front bumper blades at Crewe Audi - left and right are about £150 each, doable. The Carbon items are £763 each - are they really CF or simply CF foil wrapped I wonder?

I think it is carbon, Because if not they have to say carbon effect.
I noticed the back of the cover yellowing near the cats and down pipes where all the heat is, which is common of the lacquered carbon. This is an issue on Mclarens too apparently.
