I agree, however the same could've been said of he B8 era car, but that remained Estate only.
The Chinese market's a complicated one, as at the RS end of the price range, people like to have back seats and comfort, so would go for a saloon, but whether that would be an RS model for their shockingly bad roads, or they'd skip up the range to a more comfortable S6/S8, I don't know
The American market predominantly love a 'Coooop" in their words, but didn't take the Rs5 in massive numbers

Anything printed in magazines at this stage is going to be pure speculation in order to appear to have a scoop, and gather volume. Until we see something testing at the ring, or something more definitive come out of Germany with some weight from the factory, I'd take everything this early for a pinch of salt

Interesting quote from Auto Express re the RS4 powertrain...
Speaking to Auto Express, Dr Ulrich Hackenberg confirmed the new S4 will have a turbocharged V6 engine with an output in "excess of 350 bhp."

Hackenberg went on to suggest the RS4 will use a 3.0-liter V6 with e-turbo technology. He declined to give performance figures but acknowledged the car wouldn't be as powerful as the Mercedes-AMG C63 S because “that car has eight cylinders”.

There's no word on timing but previous reports have indicated the S4 could be unveiled as early as September. We'll probably have to wait a little longer to see the RS4.
Full article here detailing the e-turbo...

Looks like we could see one next year. No wonder so many B8s have been registered over the last few months.

So will I. To me that looks like a badly-written click-bait article based on nothing other than guesswork.

Yep we will see but the mock up of the saloon in Autocar looks really nice. I suppose its understandable that B8 owners will be in denial about when it will arrive but the write up makes perfect sense in that they are saying RS owners want to see the RS variant early on in the B9 variants timeline so they are getting current technology. They also need to compete with the M3 sooner rather than later as that looks a cracking little car, cant stand the M4 but the M3 looks really nice in saloon form.
My money is on an earlier release!

The reviews on the B8 RS4 release were largely lack-lustre. Usual crap about steering feel et al. History will be kind to the B8 RS4. The engine is the final swansong for big displacement high reving engines. As with all classics, it will take a decade or so for everyone to realise how good it is so it will depreciate like a brick then start to gain attention in a few years. The B9 will be lighter faster and more effocient but I doubt it will make you laugh out loud when it gets to 8000rpm and its still pulling. So either keep the B8 for 10 years and look smug or accept you will lose lots of money when trading in for a B9. Ive no doubt the B9 will be very special.

Dual charge is still unusual but at least VAG have done it before. MK5 Golf GT

Depending on the article you read VAG dropped twincharging because of either reliability problems or because it was too complex & expensive, plus they believe they can get (at least) the same torque & power from a well developed turbo engine which will probably have lower emissions too.
