Will be watching this thread with interest, great work so far and good to see it's build thread!!

I owned this car prior to Qman, it was the 2nd RS4 avant which I owned (up to number 7 now!!) and I've always had a soft spot for it, you can't beat a sprint blue avant in my opinion!! I bought it off another petrolhead that had just taken delivery of an Aston Martin V8 Vantage, so reckon it's been enthusiast owned all of it's life.

Funny thing is, google street view still shows the old girl parked on my drive!!!!
Current:
B9 RS4 Avant in Missano
1991 Mk2 Golf GTI 8v, Big Bumper in Oak Green
1960 VW Beetle 1200 (6 volt, 34hp!)
1999 Porsche Boxster 2.5

On Order:
B9.5 RS4 Avant in Daytona

Previous:
3 x B7 Avants in Sprint, Phantom and Daytona (Loved that car!!)
3 x B8 Avants in Daytona, Phantom and Ibis
2 x B9 Avants in Missano (x2), Daytona
1 x B8 S4 Avant in Sprint

Today had some time to install JHM short shifter.
Installation is fairly simple and quick. Adjustment is Royal PITA!!! 1-2 perfect no reverse... Reverse perfect no 1-2. But after a few hours tinkering and watching videos finally all working as it should! And it made such a massive difference! They should not call it short shifter (because it's not as short as some people think) but no play smooth precise shifter. ( very pleasant precise motion with highly satisfying "click" kinda feel)
Very happy! And so much more satisfying when double clutching and heel-toe braking ;)

Lol, been there with a few times with short shifters on RS4's, including the JHM. Satisfying when it does eventually line up with all gears.

So before going to Wales for a bit of camping and walking (secretly we all know why I agreed to go there ;) some lovely twisty Tarmac out there)
I decided it was a good idea to change my failed LAMBDA B2s1. Surprisingly easy that was. Undo 6 bolts, lower the gearbox by 6cm and there is enough room to reach for the connectors. 15min job at best. Image
Also while under there, on my quest to tighten things up, installed ECS tuning rear diff mount and 034 Motorsport subframe diff spacers and 034 Motorsport gearbox mount. Reading different forums and comments of other people how hard it is to tighten the main long bolt on the gearbox mount, decided it was a wise idea to make a locking spacer that would lock the bolt in place :)
Some red neck engineering that was ;) Image Image
Diff mount was a pita! Until we realised that if you lover the diff by 5-6cm there is enough room to reach for long top bolt with a 16mm socket rather than trying to undo it with a 16mm wrench 1/16 turn at a time lol. So 2 hours later it's was done!
Loving the stiffness. No extra vibrations in the cab! Highly recommend!

I guess by trial and error. Started the car and tried adjusting 1-2, Reverse till I got it 100%.

As tight as a virgin ;) no but in all seriousness! Very happy with the feel! Feels solid no movement. Very positive feeling. By still not perfect.! I am sure there are a few other things i can try to tighten things up without sacrificing on comfort

Going to do my B2S1 this week, don't know if I should thank you for the tip or not. I was going to use having the down pipe off as an excuse to gut the precats.
