the RS5 from OZ ...

ok, first part of the RS5 story ... (start from the bottom)

did some dyno's as well

first one - my stage 1 exhaust and upgraded first filters

Image

next one - after custom tune from City Performance (Sydney)

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

next dyno to come as soon as she returns from the shop and hopefully we are done with exhaust system, at least for now ... lets see what's the new intake done to the car, it fill different, bit stronger on lower revs and pulls for a little longer, at least that's how it feels to me.

was running cut outs at some point, epic sound (front butterfly's opened of external remote) - no cat back for tunnel drives ...

played with MMI and did some codding cause why not ...

unlocked engineering menu
Image

unlocked MP3 stripping
Image

added battery level because it was there
Image

unlocked video in motion, so watch some news while stack in traffic ...
Image

also,
unlocked mirror tilting while in reverse (do it if you like your rims),
changed the reverse camera turn off speed to 5km (10km default - didn't like it),
increased camera brightness (highly recommend that one, massive improvement in vision on dark spots)
added car lock sound, cause never knew if it was locked

done some exhaust work as well

stage 1 - initially cut the resonators and center muffler out and welded in the X-converter way back, obviously had to heat paint it BLACK (sorry for crappy pics here)

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

drove it for a while (love the sound) but decided that running straight pipes just with rear mufflers was not good enough so new idea was born ...

stage 2 - cutouts and race glass packs etc

started at the front

Image

Image

Image

front buckets ...

Image

got dropped on H&Rs and spaced a little at some point as well

Image

Image

so all badges were gone or blacked out, not so sure when ...

Image

Image

needed more black so if the rims went powder coated satin black so the exhaust tips had to go with them

Image

changed the steering wheel at some point to be able to get into the buckets ...

wheel off

Image

swap

Image

new FBSW on

Image

Image

some intake work ...

upgraded the filters to begin with

Image

then did some heat shielding

Image

then didn't like it, got the shits and custom made the whole lot and added some machine guns ...

Image

Image

Image

some hydro carbon ...

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

some carbon additions ...

Image

Image

Image

couple shots from last year ...

KWV3 went in recently, called lower then previously, it's low ... no rubbing whatsoever
settings are pretty hard - 3 clicks of the hardest for daily
love the ride so far, noticeable difference from just H&R springs which were great,
ride is very firm but smooth,
set the camber a bit more aggressive as well ...
all of those little changes make a huge difference overall ... can't wait to have another blast on track

Front

Rear

so brakes were gone after the last track run

the old rear setup

the new rear bananas

the old front setup

old vs. new

Image
dont mind those hammer marks, they are not easy to come off

I love the way they look on the car

friend of mine dropped in with a little gift ...

Image
on the car
Image

RS5 vs R36 – surprisingly stock R36 is really good, handles like a dream …

RS5 vs S5 – see the difference between RS5 and S5

RS5 vs M3 – M3 ran semi slicks toyo 888 vs my street toyo tires

RS5 vs R8 V8 – well what can I say, she was carbon out ass, every bit was custom made from CF on it, the PES blower on top, gotta say I found myself the next project haha

RS5 vs Lotus – only two of those in AU, full CF body

RS5 vs Focus – they go bloody good

RS5 vs Lexus – recently Lexus became a track car …

before installation of the new staff, took it for a blast again.

got bored with H&R springs and got those bad boys from KW - V3

Image

it was time to do some brakes work ...
so pulled the trigger on those bad boys - FL lighter Brembo's

Image

thought that never enough of piano black accents, little addition ...

Help a bother out, H&R springs, they fit with original DRC and ADS? No issues? Plug and play?

Bloody marevelous effort!!!

I've been toying with the idea of making my RS5 Rotors black / Anthracite, I even did a mock up with photoshop (see my build thread for the photo) cos I'ce never seen a decent darkened set before... well until now that is.

Dave
With regards to suspension, did you see the KW kit that Cuppa fitted to his S5 (built thread in the S5 section)? If I remember correctly it was electronically adjustable from the drivers seat, 3 settings I think. Also had Iphone control of damping.

Now That's a nice RS5.

Loving the RS5 more and more I see it?

Some say the next one will have a twin turbo V6?....475bhp.

Sure I read that in CAR when they Interviewed that Audi head geyser?

The links do not need the YouTube bit, so this

Code: Select all

Should be this:

Code: Select all

would love the APR push puppy on it but the budget for this project may not allow for it this year, see what happens ...
waiting for some technical data and $$$ release from APR anyway, there is nothing besides the fact that they got one testing on their RS5

bad boys out of the box ...

forgot there were stiff ass sway bars from GMG installed prior KWs

Image

Image

front - 2 adjustments: 35/85% stiffer
rear - 2 adjustments: 83/120% stiffer

some pics from installation

Front:
set to 85% stiffer

Image

Image

Front OEM vs GMG

Image

Image

Image

Image

Rear:
set to 120% stiffer

Image

Image

Rear OEM vs GMG

Image

Image

the GMG bar is noticeably heavier and thicker, also the bends are little different, but it fits perfectly fine, bit tricky if done first time,

little tip for anybody running with KWV3s, in order to gain access to the front rebound dumping adjustment spindle located on top of the piston rod you need to drill a little whole (on both sides) just so you can insert the KW key as shown below, otherwise you can't adjust it on the go

Image

simple grommets from hardware store cover the wholes nicely so it looks stock, see below
