Hi mike, car is looking great. Where did you get the carbon engine cover from.

Cheers Dougie

Thanks Dougie.

The cover came from Argon Creative, the same company being used for the front splitter in the other thread.

I'm surprised that you went for the normal carbon fibre weave Mike, you should have got the 2x2 weave to match your Revolution Air Intake.

I'm not to clued up about the different weaves and did think it was 2x2 twill but forgot to write it down when asking the wife ot order it. Haven't seen it in the daylight yet. And besides I wasn't sure which one to go for as the OEM engine covers are slightly different from the Revolution one aren't they?

The engine cover and the Revolution induction kit are made from 2x2 weave carbon fibre, although the engine cover would have gone yellow from the heat. The lads at Argon would have made it to match your induction kit even down to the angle of the weave (the 2x2 weave has a diagonal pattern).

I happen to have the Gruppe M induction kit, which have the normal weave. It would be a shame for yours to go to waste! :bigblink:

Tell you what, you get the 2x2 verson and I'll swap with you. Now that's a deal!! I did wonder why they made a plain weave if all the RS4 parts are 2x2. I kind of just assumed that they's make it to match the normal engine covers. I didn't get a chance to look at it in daylight between the snow, rain and building the kids climbing frame! I will be kicking myself if it looks really odd with everything under the bonnet 2x2 and the new bit being plain weave!! Bugger!

The first one was commissioned by P_G, who had a Gruppe M induction kit, so it was made to match that. Revolution then bought out their induction kit with the 2x2 carbon fibre weave. Argon could make it out of any weave you like, including coloured carbon weave.

I've been looking at the photos and the weave looks the same to me. I think I'm just looking at the wrong details.

Well, I've finally done it. The non-res centre section has been swapped for the resonated ones. The verdict...

The car is definately quiter! It seems to have lost it's bark.

When accelerating in 1st and 2nd with the window open it was really quite frighteneing before. The noise was real monstrous but now its just rumbly, not barking. Still has a little bit of droning too.
On the upside, it is still much better than standard and it means I'll hopefully be able to use it everyday again! :jump:
I bet it is still loud enough to wake the wife up though.

Just need to space the tailpipes up properly, but that can wait for another day.

So quieter, lost it's bark, and still rumbly and slightly droning - with the only upside being that it's better than stock

Another ringing endorsement for resonated!

Sorry, should have added that it still sounds better than a Milltek though. :jump_clap:

No mate, it is still drowned out. It's probably a bit noisier than a non-resonated Milltek now.
