Will do. It's dark now and still being worked on. I doubt there will be any clearance at the rear but I think the front might need to come out a touch. I have 8mm and 10mm spacers in the garage already but with the lower offset of my wheels I think I probably need 5mm but then that means non hubcentric spacers.

MikeFish wrote:Had the Eagle F1s fitted today. This stopped the pulling to the right that I was getting. I'm now sitting at the alignment shop having the excessive rear negative camber corrected as I now have more clearance with the narrower 255 tyres. But do I need spacers now? Hmmmmmmmm.
i tried stacers and it scrubbed

Re: Mike's big RS4 modding project
Finally got round to changing the manky old expnasion tank for the shiney new one.
The old:

The new:

Started cleaning the engine bay too, started to look much better now. A couple more weeks of elbow grease and it'll look like new again.
Gave it a good scrub too whilst enjoying the late winter sunshine:

Back hurts now, but I have 2 clean cars... which means it'll probably be pi**ing down all week.

Expansion tank. A cheap quick and easy job that really lifts the engine bay.
So many car restorations I see miss this trick.

Re: Mike's big RS4 modding project
I know, it was something like £17 from Audi. I previously bought one from eBay for about £25 and it was the wrong type then I found out how much Audi charge!
And it is pretty easy to change (I must say coolant is not very nice tasting though).

Re: Mike's big RS4 modding project
Looks great!!

How are you finding the F1s? Plan to get the same for my rotors once the P Zeros have run their course, but wasn't sure if dropping from 265 to 255 would make much of a difference to the handling or spacing/aesthetics.
What did you have fitted prior to the F1s?
Re: Mike's big RS4 modding project
I had Dunlop sportmaxx GTs before and they were ok in the dry and not very good in the wet, nowhere near as good as the F1s in any situation. I'm still relearning their wet grip limits as I had to really take it easy in the wet with the Dunlops on roundabouts so I'm slowly increasing wet cornering speeds. I had p zeros on the car when I bought it and they were shocking compared to the F1s that I replaced them with.
Re: Mike's big RS4 modding project
Every time I wash it now, the oil cooler splitter trim thing really annoys me. I thought maybe get the carbon one but think I might try getting it colour coded first.
Re: Mike's big RS4 modding project
That looks awesome Mike. Black cars are just so much better when clean eh! Loving the rotors too, made me think I want some now ha

Re: Mike's big RS4 modding project
Very nice Mike. Ever had any paint correction done on it?
Re: Mike's big RS4 modding project
Thank guys. I had a little polish to remove swirl marks a few months ago but that is it. He spent the whole day giving it a good wash / clay bar and polish. My front bumper is really riddled with stone chips though so it needs a front end respray to make it shine.
My wife keeps asking why my (almost) 8 year old car is shinier than her 2.5 year old car that has only covered 7k miles!

Hi Mike,
Great thread, I really enjoyed reading it. It's a good job I'm off today, otherwise I'd be late for work!
I'm running a standard B7, I wanted to keep her standard, now I may have to rethink my decision
My priorities now are keep DRC or go aftermarket suspension.
New head unit Couldn't find a model name on this thread.
Privacy glass.
Already PM'd Trups about LED kits! Lol.
Any pointers would be welcome.
Thanks for a great read.
