Mike's Panther RS6 Performance thread
Re: Mike's Panther RS6 Performance thread
Thanks Ved. Bearing in mind I didn't take the demo car out for long (he gave me the keys and said see you in a few hours, but it only took me 10 seconds to know I wanted one) and it was 2 months ago, I could swear this feels quite a bit different (i.e. quicker) pulling away and and the lower speeds. I didn't think the difference was as much at the higher end but thinking back I didn't really get a chance to try the demo car at those sorts of speeds.

Great piece Mike must admit modding is not my thing as it's quick enough for mortals like me, the back looks great the front looks broken

Re: Mike's Panther RS6 Performance thread
I've just seen the photos of the new SQ7 and it has the se wheels as me. Wont be long till every car in the range is wearing them… this means its time for some new wheels.
Re: Mike's Panther RS6 Performance thread
Funny, I just changed my spec to (your) PE wheels (black though) from the twin spokes. They were finally beginning to grow on me.
Figured that if i didn't like them someone would probably want to swap (easier than the other way around). And that as much as i like the twin spokes, you do see them everywhere.
I have only seen renders of the SQ7 with the PE wheels. The photos I have seen have a different wheel.

Re: Mike's Panther RS6 Performance thread
I think that's your imagination playing tricks. My understanding is that the extra performance in the PE is from an increased boost at the top of the rev range (and a lift of the rev limit?). The performance in the lower and mid range should be identical. Indeed if there were any change at all in the low and mid range performance it would show in the CO2 and fuel consumption figures, but both cars are identical on this.MikeFish wrote: I could swear this feels quite a bit different (i.e. quicker) pulling away and and the lower speeds. Re: Mike's Panther RS6 Performance thread
I think you misunderstood me. You are talking Revs, im talking speed ie 0-50 feels quicker, 50-100 not so different.wildbore wrote:I think that's your imagination playing tricks. Re: Mike's Panther RS6 Performance thread
And does anybody actually believe the co2 figures? Its not like Audi wouldn't fudge them. If the performance version is 40 odd ps more powerful than there is no way the co2 is the same (obviously real world power may or may not be 40ps different).

The only way you'd be able to compare is driving back to back without ID. There's not enough in the numbers for it to be material.
Re: Mike's Panther RS6 Performance thread
You said it was faster pulling away - that, by definition happens at low revs. You also said "not so much the high end" - that means the upper end of the rev range to me, which is exactly where you should see a difference, and why I talked about where in the rev range you should see the edge with the PE.MikeFish wrote:wildbore wrote:MikeFish wrote:

Sure 0-50 will be quicker in your car if you red line it to get there. Just driving it "crisply" in a reasonably normal fashion - no difference between the cars at all.
Re: Mike's Panther RS6 Performance thread
The CO2 is the same, as is the official fuel consumption. The lab test that both cars go through puts the vehicles through a set process of engine speeds and loads (you can google it). That is the point - both cars have the same CO2 and fuel consumption because the official testing procedures don't take the car into the upper rev range where the PE has the difference in output. Lower down the rev range where the tests are done, the car perform identically, as they will on the road, if you don't visit the upper reaches of the rev range.MikeFish wrote:And does anybody actually believe the co2 figures? Re: Mike's Panther RS6 Performance thread
Pulling away is not by definition at lower revs
Yes, i said it was quicker pulling away, meaning it was quicker at lower speeds not revs. Pulling away to me is not just 0-4000 rpm, it involves the whole rev range in the first 3 gears or so.

Re: Mike's Panther RS6 Performance thread
I can't tell what is going on in the lower or upper rev range in the first 3 gears as it happens in a flash. If you can you're a better man than me

Sounds like you're driving in a FURIOUS manner again Mike. Be careful aged William doesn't see you doing that. LolMikeFish wrote:I can't tell what is going on in the lower or upper rev range I'm the first 3 gears as it happens in a flash. If you can you're a better man than me

Ha Eddie your memory is too good. I got stopped earlier this week by aged William. He said I had a nice car but try and all get to work alive than drove off.Eddie555 wrote:Sounds like you're driving in a FURIOUS manner again Mike. Be careful aged William doesn't see you doing that.
