Only rubbe once so far and that was turning full lock, up a petrol station ramp and with a bit of speed. There are a few dips on the way to work in the road that it used to rub on before it was lowered and believe it or not it doesn't rub there anymore! Must have been rubbing becuase the rear shock had gone, or maybe these new springs are much stiffer? The ride doesn't feel any harder. In fact you woudln't know you were in a lowered car riding on 20's from inside the car. That might change when I get the right size tyre as they'll be a slightly lower profile.Cecilthesausage wrote:Love the look and stance.... Those wheels look awesome! Im considering selling my RS and then i see that and want to buy wheels for it lol
Re: Mike's big RS4 modding project
Yeah keep it and get some rotors. They look even better in the flesh.
Re: Mike's big RS4 modding project
that looks awesome Mike, when i saw yours and the concave on the rims i said id have a set if some came up, well i just bought a brand new set, ill be painting mine though,
what size tyres you running?

Re: Mike's big RS4 modding project
Thanks Rick
Although they were new they came with a set of tyres so not the perfect size; theyare 265/30/20 so a bit wider and higher profile than the 255/30/20 which are an idnetical width and rolling radius to the OEM wheels.
I always planned on getting them painted, just not sure on the colour yet. I wanted to lower it first to see what they looked like in the original titainium. You may recall earlier in this thread I did a photoshop of wha they might look like:

I didn't really like that (not helped that I did it before my car was lowered), so I thought about doing them all black too. Marzz has done his RS5 wheels in satin black and think they look good:

I just thought that black might be too dark on a black car so can't decide between gloss black, satin black or same as my OEM wheels, Anthracite.
What colour you going for?

Re: Mike's big RS4 modding project
And once my windows are done I think the wheels will look a bit odd in titanium.
Re: Mike's big RS4 modding project
bloody hell didnt see the photoshop, well im going black ofcourse but matte black this time as my standard rims are gloss, black where the grey is and either leaving the silver or painting those parts gloss black.
looking at one now laid down flat and the concave is mental, cant wait to get them on ill be going for 255 30 20 and think im going for the vredestein vortis this time.
iknow its not an f40 but this is what made me want to do matte black, makes the rim stand out more.

Re: Mike's big RS4 modding project
I tihk you are right about the matte black. I think I've seen a set that we're black but still had the silver diamond cut edging and it looked pants. Think you'll need to do that bit darker or the same colour as the rest of the wheel.

ah right, is there a build thread on the rs5?
Re: Mike's big RS4 modding project
Don't paint them, they look perfect as they are!

Thanks but once the window surrounds are blacked out then they might look odd. I have a think about dark coloured wheels too!C17LJR wrote:Don't paint them, they look perfect as they are!

i know, it's been 3 years and I've still not got round to it! It was probably the biggest thing I didn't like about the car and wnated to change the most, but it's still there!!
